My iPhone has been a godsend. For example, last night, as I was lying in bed, staring out my window, I spotted this crescent moon on the western horizon, just over the foothills. It looked so pretty, I grabbed my phone from the night stand and snapped.

When I got up this morning, I looked through my iPhone and saw that I caught more than I expected. A bright object showing from the dark of the cloud upper left of the photo above the crescent moon. I didn’t see it from my pillowed vantage point. Couldn’t tell you what it is but I can tell you I didn’t hear an overhead plane. I also didn’t notice anything moving through the night sky.
Had I noticed the object at the time I probably would have gone outside to check it out. Instead, I slipped the iPhone back on the stand and fell asleep.
It was that kind of evening. Clouds played their part.
Claire and Honey had just been taking advantage of a longer day (and their Casa Claire Caretaker) a few minutes earlier by coming up to the house later than usual and demanding bed time snacks. Of course, I caved to their demands and also gave Claire a second full brushing just because she likes it. When I retreated to the back deck, I spotted them slowly making their way back to the side paddock and shot a video of the shadowy back drop.
In the distance, at the night’s eastern horizon, a lone summer storm cell was offering a bit of a silent light show. No thunder, just sheet or heat lightning.
Pretty awesome.
Managed to pull this from the video, which I posted on my FB page.

I get why John Constable and Joseph Turner were fascinated by clouds.
And the lesson, if there is one, is that you have to open your self up to the amazing. If something triggers your interest, even for a second, give it your attention. You never know what you will see. And that is the magic of life. Those pleasantly unexpected moments where you say to yourself, “now that was cool.”
Speaking of cool, as in temperature, I have to head into the town Rec Center for a swim. So I have to wrap up some things before hand.
It’s Friday, the most magical day of the week. The weekend officially starts now.
So, you fine, five readers, start your engines and burn through whatever work you must do to retain your employment. Then take off out a side door as quickly as you are able.
And whatever else you get up to, keep those eyes open, and have a great day.
