Second One-On-One with Nona for a Day

I thought the Mani-Pedis were going to be the toughest part of yesterday, and for a while, they were, as the Mules escaped out back before I could halter them in the morning and were extremely uncooperative once I had them tied up. But Jason arrived on time and the weather remained clear and sunny, so we got it all done out by Hadrian’s Wall.

But then it was Lisa’s one-on-one day with Savanna, the middle child of the female grans, and I thought I would lose what little is left of my mind.

You see, part of the O-O-O experience is a movie in a movie theatre.

As far as I’m concerned, Sponge Bob is Pee Wee Herman in cartoon form.

Now, don’t get me wrong, this cartoon madness is cute and even funny in small doses, and the SB Pirate movie kept Savanna entertained for 90 minutes, so that is a blessing. But I’m sure I was one step closer to schizophrenia by the time we exited the theatre.

The movie itself was well done and all of the children in the theatre, including Savanna, enjoyed themselves.

The sad thing is that part of the movie theatre ritual is watching 50 previews, a number of which I would much rather have sat through. One in particular stood out to me.

The Sheep Detectives, with Hugh Jackman – who I am now convinced could rock it as Jimmy Moran in a film version of The Claire Saga.

Anyway, the blessing was that Savanna sent me three different times to the food counter in the lobby to fetch additional food and drink, which gave me an opportunity to meander and not watch the film. Much like when the nuns gave me their coded handwritten messages to take across the school building at St. Maggies to other nuns in other classrooms. I could kill an hour walking three hundred feet of Catholic School hallway and stairs. There and back again.

Afterwards Lisa offered Savanna the opportunity to dine in the same fine Italian restaurant where Lisa had taken Scarlett on her O-O-O day but Savanna wasn’t interested because of all the Junk Food she had consumed during the movie – ice cream, dots, two slushies and popcorn.

So, on the way back to Casa Claire, to repay Savanna for making me sit through SBSP, I explained in great and colorful detail how she was going to sleep in the barn with Claire and Honey, but not to worry, I had bought her a sleeping bag and would place her under one of the heaters.

She then referred to me as Piggy Pug, so I pointed at a Gas Station sign with a skunk next to the word Stinky and told her that it read “Savanna.”

I paid dearly for that. The rest of my afternoon was spent watching The Really Loud House series – The Really Loud House – Wikipedia

It was actually a well-produced show with a similar silly feel to The Monkees series from the 60s.

We did get a brief respite, when Savanna finally decided she was hungry, so we took a road trip north to McDonalds where I watched Savanna consume dinner in between dancing around all of the other tables in the empty establishment. That medium Sprite gave her the perfect sugar high. I snapped the photo when she dived under our table. Blind shot, but proof of life.

After a few more hours of TRLH series I begged Lisa for a mercy killing and she sent me off to bed, where the Beagle Brothers and I lay for a few hours listening to Grandma and Granddaughter babble away on numerous topics with lots of giggling and snorts.

Lisa headed me off when I came down this morning so I wouldn’t wake Savanna who had finally fallen asleep on the living room couch. Lisa slept in my recliner.

Well, a O-O-O always ends with a breakfast at The Villages Diner in Loveland, and then some more time back at Casa Claire with Nona while I do my chores outside.

Then we’ll drive by Luke and Georgie’s and toss the errant child out of the moving car as we speed past. I’m good at that, I used to be a paper boy.

Like the wolf in The Three Little Pigs, I’m not sure I’ll survive our next adventure with the third, youngest, and most deadly grandchild, Stella. Stay tuned.

But here we are at the 1-11 Portal —

Here’s why the 1/11 portal is best for manifesting and resolutions

So, my fine, five readers, let’s make the most of it.

I’ll be working on manifesting a number of creative outcomes.

I’m sure you are going to watch which teams will follow LA and Chi-Town (and Denver) into the playoffs.

Lisa, originally an upstater, is a lifelong Bills fan, so good luck.

But no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.
