Reading The Signs

Yesterday, I got my must do chores wrapped early, so Lisa and I made a day of it and hit the local browsing places.

But first we checked in with Claire, who looked into her crystal ball

and seeing no issues with our leaving her in charge, told us to go and enjoy ourselves.

Smokey the Cat meditated with BuddaCat out on the front porch

before declaring that she would make sure no one made it through the Jack The Spruce Grotto who shouldn’t be there.

But the Beagle Brothers were not happy with the news. Indeed, Smokey the turned his face away and tucked his ears back in protest.

I do not know how he managed that feat.

But off we went to our favorite Habitat for the Humanity in Berthoud, where we picked up some keepsake items for the grans rooms,

We selected two angels to look out for the two younger girls, with their Bronx genes and Aussie looks, they are going to need it.

A blond cherub for Stella,

and a darker haired one for Savanna,

Now these are aspirations at best. Must cover all bases. But for Scarlett, we leaned into the Fae, with a western style fairy house,

whose occupants will provide all of the protection she may need.

Then it was a quick stop at the Berthoud flea market, where an amazing Lakota woman, with just a touch of Celtic Scott – from her maternal great grandfather – enchanted us with very cool stories about her life and then sold us these three protection amulets for the girl’s schools back packs. Native American Ju-Ju.

Then it was off to Loveland, where we spontaneously selected the Skybear Brewery for lunch, with its very thin crust but delicious veggie pizza, and I tried my first non-alcohol, fresh brewed beer.

My eyes were closed as my mind travelled four decades back in time – quantum entanglement – to compare the taste with the real thing. True Blood indeed.

Then we strolled through the old town and stopped in a really cool occult shop, right there on 4th Street, called Pure Vibes.

Where I picked up the latest wind chime for the Casa Claire trees,

and we picked up a cool dream catcher for the girls’ guest room – best referred to as Scarlett’s Room or all hell breaks loose – back at the house.

one set of dangling feathers for each demon.

Upon our return to Casa Claire, I checked in on Claire and Honey, who were out peacefully grazing on the side property.

But Claire let me know that all was safe and secure on CC, and then demanded her dinner in Claire’s Wee Laire.

I then spent a few late afternoon moments recharging out under The Old Man, where the Beagle Brothers were quick to forgive and forget our brief abandonment.

And as night finally captured the skies over Casa Claire,

I looked around and realized that it had been a good day.

And that is all I could ask for.

But today means I have some chores to catch up on, so I better get a move on.

  1. I’ve been on an NA beer quest for eight months now. They aren’t the same, but they’re close enough and getting better! Great pics, Tom.
