A Good Saturday

Got through my chores in the morning, but while out and about on the grounds snapped some cool photos of the creatures that find sanctuary on Casa Claire.

The Beagle Brothers started the day off with a lie-in while I checked my emails before heading outside.

This first feral photo was snapped by Lisa while I was out back. Seemed Mr. Fox stopped by The Jack The Spruce Grotto for a drink from the fountain of youth.

And a little later, while I was watering the plants, I caught Smokey cat napping in the high grass a few feet away.

At which time, I also spotted a mourning dove having a drink at the front as well, while The Old Man’s stone bunny looked on.

I definitely need to patent that safety net.

Then I had to go pick up some wood shavings for Claires Wee Laire, and when I returned C&H had left their favorite front spot under the Ladies,

and were now out back in the Serengeti, doing some early afternoon grazing,

But Honey must have noticed I was shooting photos, because Claire then did her best to hide,

while a couple of my Bronx pigeons looked on from on top of the Bat House,

Notice the large mystical Faun racing upright along the rooftop in the background, trying to avoid being captured in the photo. Gotcha.

Which is really no surprise, especially here on Casa Claire. And we are heading into Halloween season, so expect the relatively unexpected. There are a lot of goats in the neighborhood, including my favorite mystical Unigoat, who lives on the McQueen farm.

Then Lisa and I went out for some of our favorite Tai food truck in Berthoud, but stopped along the way at the Coolest Curiosity Shop in NoCo called Cobblestone Corner,

where the opening shot signs (above) in the window caught my eye and led me to select this latest addition to my collection of interesting warning signs,

which tickled my lawyer spidey senses as it really does capture the gestalt of what I’m looking for when it comes to the uninvited, which thankfully does not apply to the feral or mystical creatures. I will spend some time this morning looking for the perfect place to post it. Covers a lot of sins.

I also took care of the full moon prep.

Later, I went out on the back deck to contribute my consciousness to the Dr. Greer noticed collective CE-5 event,

but if there were any ETs about, they were not in my section of NoCo. I could hear the faint sounds of party 70s music passing along on the slight wind while I sat in the red rocker on my back deck, staring at the passing satellites, but couldn’t get a fix on its source location.

And before I finally went to bed, I checked on the TWA video posted on TT, where it had already had a great day.

And over the few hours I slept, it added a few thousand more nocturnal TT views.

Whether those views were with just the right eyes that will envision bringing The Claire Saga to the big screen, only time will tell. But I do have another two nights of full moons – with an eclipse of a blood moon – to get my message out there.

Speaking of my mini sleep, last night’s was interrupted at some point by the sound of what I thought could be Claire banging on the plate glass door down in the basement level. You’ve all heard that sound in some of my FB postings.

No mistaking it.

But these were a half dozen separate, reverberating bangs, about 30 seconds apart. The first one woke me out of a sound sleep, so it took me a moment to get my bearings. By then, the second one hit, and I got up and looked out the bedroom window to see if Claire and Honey were down back under the deck by the back door, being uncharacteristically mischievous. I couldn’t see anything and I would have given the full moon.

I climbed back into bed just as the third bang resonated through the house.

I tried to localize where it was coming from, but I couldn’t get a read on it.

Now here’s funny thing, usually when Claire bangs on the plate glass door, the Beagle Brothers launch off the couch barking hysterically and then race ahead of me down the stairs while I follow cursing brutally like a sailor – while Lisa shouts at me to calm down – to hopefully cause Claire to stop banging on the door before she shatters it with her monstrous hoof.

The dogs did not react to last nights bangs. Neither did Lisa (who has a solid 4 1/2 decade record of reacting to nocturnal bangs).

The fourth bang hit. I listened to see if it could be something else. Couldn’t get a fix on it. The fifth bang sounded. I reached down and grabbed my S&W from its bed holster. Again, dogs and Lisa remained asleep. When the sixth gong sounded I jumped out of bed with gun in hand, finger safely off the trigger, muzzle pointed towards the floor. This time the dogs felt my disruption when exiting the bed and followed behind as I raced down the stairs and quickly checked all of the still locked doors on the first floor, then sailed down to the basement expecting to see the Silhouette of Claire blocking the light through the back door, with the steam from her nostrils fogging the top.

But the doorway was clear. Just moonlight.

I quickly checked the rest of the basement and then slid out through the back door, looking to see if Claire or Honey were anywhere near the backyard. But the yard was empty of anything that would register on the visual spectrum of my color challenged eyes.

I walked around to check both sides of the house, and sight checked the front property, while the dogs raced around the perimeter and even flew down past the new barn where, from the side paddock, I could the see the mules restfully reclining as reflected through the open door by the yellow light from the back of the old barn.

The dogs followed me back into the house where I did another full walkthrough, but this time there was no further knocking. I even stopped and went out to the front porch to check the JTS grotto, and since I was up, I fed the feral cats.

When I got back into my bed, I lay there for awhile listening to the now silent house before I slid the gun back into the holster and fell back asleep.

Lisa, who sleeps with a touch lighter than the Princess and the Pea,

remained asleep throughout this entire event. She had gone to bed before me, a little more tired than usual. Definitely no nocturnal banging. A spell, perhaps.

The house remained quiet until I awoke a few hours later.

At which point, I took the Beagle Brothers out for their morning constitutionals while I went out for some early morning grounding,

And took another quick stroll around the property, before coming inside for that first delicious cuppa joe.

Full moon Colorado shenanigans indeed. Better keep a broom handy.

Luckily there is always one by the front door.

Anyway, Sunday is upon us and I have some other chores to see to. The troughs all need topping off and a haybale added to the rack in Claires Wee Laire. Maybe some wood shavings.

But first, my rounds. I’ll say and extra warm hello to the McQueen’s Unigoat.

But you fine, five readers cash in the God’s Day of Rest Card. Get out there and do absolutely nothing but rest.

And whatever else we may get up to, let us make today a great one.
