Theresa Daly was the first person I ever showed my first attempt at poetry – Ode To Murray Collins.
She convinced me it was good enough to share with the family of the subject of the poem.
It was my first inkling that I may be able to write.
I showed it to TD because the whole neighborhood already knew she was a gifted poet.
She was also a sweetheart, and I knew she would treat me with emotional kid gloves.
I’ve known TD forever. We ran with the same crowd growing up. Got drunk together a few times. She’s a lovely person on so many levels.
And she is an amazing poet.
I was honored when she asked me if I wanted to read this collection.
Once I finished I begged her to let me provide a cover blurb. I am thrilled to have made the cut.
This book covers everything from love to politics, and defines what it truly means to be Irish and American. You hear the call of the bagpipes, experience the pulse of the bodhrán. You feel the breath of the many generations that appear in these poems. They stand among your ancestors.
TD’s love poems are heart breaking but never do you feel a sense of victimhood. TD gave as good as she got and the heart break of her poetry tilts both ways.
Any man should consider himself lucky to be immortalized in the imagery of TD. Most probably don’t deserve the honor.
And TD picked the perfect time to launch her book of poetry.

I am also Irish, American, & grew up in Riverdale. I love writing, & reading, & everything about the English language. I know you Tom,& TD also, but I moved out of Riverdale years ago, and haven’t been back much lately. I keep in touch with some friends through fb & by phone.
Hi Pat. Sure I remember you. I’ve not been in Riverdale since 2017, but I stay in touch. TD has wandered a bit as well, but she’s back in the neighborhood. TD staked her claim as the Riverdale Bard decades ago. I came late to the dance, but I am trying to make up for lost time. Always room for more writing Riverdalians, ex pat or not. Thanks for coming aboard.
