When I wrote Spark of Faith, I knew I was breaking new ground for me as a novelist by revisiting a story that has been percolating for decades.
If you have read any of my recent blogs, you’ll understand what I mean by this.
Turns out, I needed to experience life on so many-and much deeper-levels before attempting such a project.

First, I had to start on a predicted path of finding my writer’s voice before I could tackle this story with the empathy and perspective it deserves.

And as much as I hated to be told that back in the last century, that meant I had to experience six decades before meeting the right people and creatures that finally would trigger this creative release.

When the time came, I had to approach exercising my new writer’s voice in baby steps.
The Claire Saga starts out in a safe zone for me, with The Wise Ass and its protagonist — a Bronx boy who becomes a lawyer. I was able to build upon that foundation with sixty years of personal experiences – even those criminally related. The NoCo venue also draws heavily from my fish-out-of-water experience when, in 2017, I suddenly moved from Da Bronx to Berthoud Colorado.
But during the writing of those five novels, two non-exclusive paths emerged for the characters. One extraterrestrial, a storyline in which I have great confidence. Disclosure is happening and Contact is just around the corner. You’ll thank me later.
The other one is spiritual – with Celtic influences like Animism and the Fae – mixed with the quantum-magical concepts of the impact of energy, frequency and vibration on this plain of existence.
But I also touch upon the concept of an afterlife for aliens, cryptos, mystics, and humans. The eternity on the other side of the veil that awaits us all.
By the time a SOF reader reaches the fifth and final novel of the series, Where The Ley Lines Meet, the central character, Claire the Mystical Mule, has evolved into a psychopomp, and like Aslan the Lion in C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia, she presents as a Christlike character to show the rest of the mystical misfits the way.

Which leads me back to my latest novel, Spark of Faith.
I first attempted to tackle the story as a much different screenplay in the last Century.

That attempt was ultimately unsuccessful, but it drew a lot of interest from people in Hollywood, including one you may know.

But the universe decided I needed to evolve more as a person and spiritually before I was fully emotionally and empathetically ready to tackle the concept of what it means in today’s world to have faith in a Creator, Source, or as more colloquially referred to, God.
In keeping with my love of leaving literary breadcrumbs, I’ve now converted what was originally a child’s stick man rudimentary drawing into Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam.
Given the reception by my inner circle, a small group of beta readers, including nurses, and authors I respect, including the most recent response by a bestselling author who is also a physician, my novel, Spark of Faith, hits the mark.
In sum, I am very proud of this work.
And if SOF turns out to be my last novel, I’ll go out on a high note.
Always Your Last, Until It’s Not – The Wise Novelist
Well, that’s an awful lot for a Monday morning, but given that I am the lead singer in a one-man marketing band, I have to keep pushing the literary product–those novels already on the shelf and the exciting coming attractions– every free moment I get.
I hope I haven’t scared away any of my fine, five readers in the process.
