The McQueen Queens – Welcome Home Claire and Honey!

Yesterday, I got the text from Lenay McQueen that her crew was on their way back from their weekend visit with family in Kansas (shout out to Lenay’s Dad) and would I be interested in going to pick up Claire and Honey later in the day?

Riding in a truck with girls? A Dude ranch version of Yellowstone? Yes, please!

So, later that afternoon, I hopped in their white pick up truck with Lenay,

her older daughter Moriah,

and her younger daughter Mattea.

And the four of us drove over to Mead to collect their two beautiful show horses and my show offs, Claire and Honey, in their amazing ark of a horse trailer.

Of course Claire and Honey had not yet forgiven me for dropping them off at fat camp for a week, where they had to eat healthy regular horse food like hay and foraging with the occasional Casa Claire care packages, although the elven Pam often snuck them apples, so of course they were intent on embarrassing me by making me play ringolevio rather than gently submitting to being haltered. But they had overlooked that I had brought well trained, youthful, and fearless cowgirl back-up, and before long they were haltered and being led onto the great white ark for their return to now smoke free Berthoud.

After another fun truck ride where I learned of a new local restaurant called Buc-ees, https://buc-ees.com/, renown for their excellent service, food, spanking clean restrooms and Wally World type entertainment,

we arrived back home and Claire and Honey disembarked,

and headed straight out to the back property,

where they first checked on the new barn to make sure I hadn’t rented it out,

then headed out back,

and both immediately began to roll in the dust.

But I was able to sleep like a baby knowing they are both home, and when I went out to feed them this morning, they arrived out of the summer darkness and swooped into the barn like Capistrano swallows.

Well, it’s hump day again, and we must engage our return to smokeless normal and productivity.

You fine, five readers get your skates on and attack the hill. Friday waits confidently in the distance, like the prettiest girl at the dance. Make sure you wave.

With the McQueen horses back on site, my rounds will be the full complement.

But first some kitty cuddling.

Thank you the McQueen Queens, Pam Myrick and Danielle LaRue and her daughter Gianna (nice jeep G). You are indeed a heavenly host.

And let us not forget, that no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.
