When I first got into the writing game, I felt lost. All the other writers seemed to have it all together, and I was still suffering from my latest embodiment of the Imposter Syndrome.
One of the first writers who threw me a life line was Christy Cooper Burnett. I first noticed her name as one of the early reviewers of The Wise Ass and then I spotted her among the regular, more witty writer contributors on Twitter/X.
I read and reviewed her Christine Stewart time-travel series – No Way Home; Finding Home; and Escaping Home – and by then I was hooked on her writing. She has engaging narrative plots, a great writing style and her characters are interesting and likeable. I was terribly jealous.
By then, CCB and I had become close internet friends and I had published TWA, AAA and KMAG (The Claire Trilogy).
Christy was working on her next book, Passport To Terror, which has a great time traveling character, Madison Taylor. I was working on Finding Jimmy Moran. We read and supported each other’s works and cheered each other on throughout the writing.
Since she always seems to be finishing her books before I do, I asked if I could borrow Madison Taylor as a crossover character in FJM. She agreed, and MT and Jimmy Moran meet up in a Hell’s Kitchen bar and spend a night together hanging around Manhattan in the 70s. It was fun.
Anyway, by then CCB and I had become good friends. CCB invited me to join her at a booth in the LA Book Fair and Helen L (yes, from TCT) joined us and we had a great time.
We have very similar views of life, and comparable twisted senses of humor. We have come to consider each other the ying to our yang. Siblings. We make up for each other’s missing gender.
Christy is one of the most supportive writers I know. A real cheerleader.
So, when her latest book, Run, dropped on July 3rd, I knew I had to help get the word out. This is not a time-traveling book. It’s an edge of your seat criminal drama/thriller about a mother and son on the run from very bad dudes. Christy is well versed in this world, given her father was in Law Enforcement in the LA Area. She is also the devoted single mother of her now adult son Mychael (an absolutely great guy who is engaged to an equally great girl). So CCB’s writing smacks with authenticity on all levels. Her writing is brilliant. Do not miss this book (then go back and read all of her other books).
Of course, CCB being CCB, is always looking out for the male half of her psyche, and included a shout out to me in her acknowledgment.
Right back atcha sweetie.
And of course, CCB is already working on her next book, so I better get off my ass if I have any hope of keeping up with her.
However, right now I have chores to deal with.
But first some kitty cuddling and my rounds.
You fine, five readers make sure CCB gets on your summer TBR pile. Anyone who enjoys my writing will be enchanted by hers.
Well, the sun is rising so I must flee.
But, no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.

She has an easy to read style! Really like!
Yes! I love Christy’s book. They keep me on the edge of my seat reading and turning the pages as quickly as I can to read what’s happening next.
It’s true, Tom is my male counterpart. He is the brilliant legal mind and witty writer half of our brain. If you read his blog then you’ve likely read his books and know how fantastic they are! Plus, he’s just a great human being who never fails to make me laugh.
Thanks for the shoutout my friend. 😁
Intricately plotted, timely and edge-of-believable scary and thrilling! RUN deserves to be a huge hit!!
