Remember, remember! The fifth of November . . .

Today is Guy Fawkes Day. Seems fitting.

But back to yesterday.

You may have read that Claire suffered from a Colic Flare back in September, when I was introduced to the wonderful Doc Francesca, who is now Claire’s (and Honey’s) regular Vet.

I mean, think about it, their Veterinarian Office is called LeClair Equine. What’s in a name?!

Well, with the change in weather towards Cold As A Witch’s Tit – yes it actually started snowing

Claire’s arthritis seems to be acting up a little, so I had Doc Francesca come by to give her a baseline check up before snow really began falling and sticking to ground and hooves and I had to coat the mules, which makes it more difficult to listen to heart and alimentary sounds. At the same time, Doc Francesca was able to follow-up on Claire’s Colic episode to make sure things were running smoothly.

Doc arrived with faithfull Ariel to assist her, and after giving Claire a good physical and drawing blood to run all the baseline tests, the three ladies all posed for the photo op. L to R: Ariel, Claire and Francesca.

What I most love about this crew is that they completely understand that I am useless – in that I let Claire and Honey get away with murder – and don’t judge. One more blessing in being surrounded by competent and understanding females at Casa Claire.

Well, after Doc and Ariel finished up their work, Claire headed out back to where Honey was patiently waiting, but both looked over for a photo.

Doc contacted me later to share that Claire’s baseline numbers were within normal range and that she was just waiting to hear back on a couple of specialized tests that were sent out to labs. She does want to start Claire on a daily anti inflammatory to offset some arthritic discomfort she noticed in her front legs, especially now in the colder weather. We’ll give it a shot, but Claire and Honey are not big on taking medication.

So, as much as I hate grey dreary Monday’s this one was better than expected. And it is over.

Tuesday is usually when we find our weekly footing.

Well, this Tuesday, November 5th, is our unique country’s Election Day.

I purposely try and keep politics out of my social media, but given the importance of the day, here’s my two cents. And that’s all my thoughts are worth. But it’s all I got. So, I’m anteing up. All in.

If you have read The Claire Saga, you may have gotten an inkling.

I’m libertarian by nature – live and let live. You choose for you and I’ll choose for me but I have a lifelong authority issue, and do not like big government telling me what to do. And the lawyer in me knows his Constitutional rights, including his Amendments.

I’m fiscally conservative – you don’t spend what I don’t have, but on a daily basis I will gladly personally hand out my last dollar in my pocket to those that need it, and then go without. I stand up for the innocent – children, elderly, infirm and all other sentient creatures that cannot speak for themselves, like P’nut and Freddie. I raised a daughter to be a multi-sport D1 athlete. So, I understand her lifetime of sacrifice to get there, women’s equal rights that need to be preserved and the term fairness.

My creator provided me with whatever I need and my decisions are impacted by my solitary, eclectic, nature-intergalactic-interdimensional-quantum physics=magic formed spiritual feelings, not organized religious beliefs, so I’m not a joiner. I have close friends in all camps but no one else speaks for me. As Groucho Marx once said . . . . https://youtu.be/TZ-Mh6qmkR4

Time for us all to exercise our individual/collective right as a citizens to decide who will lead us these next four years. Do not sit this one out.

If any of my fine, five readers feel the urge to regress into polarized opposite corners, please, on this one day, remove the emotion, focus on the factual day-to-day issues impacting you and your family in your daily lives, not the hypothetical spin of arrogant television or political pundits, or lifelong bureaucrats whose lobbyist supported livelihood and psychological and economic self worth are weighed in their retention/extension of power and telling you in their doublespeak what to do and who will never suffer your consequences of their decisions. This is your country and your government must serve you, not the other way around. This is your one chance to be heard. You have two track records to review. Sit down with your calculator and decide whether you are better off now than you were four years ago. I know my numbers. Pray, if that helps you. This isn’t clique filled high school, but if you must fall into that tribal mindset, treat your decision making like you are voting for student council and not for Prom King/Queen. This is not a beauty or popularity contest. Today has continuing consequences beyond the hormone laden last magical slow dance and some alcohol fueled fumbling on a beach or in the back seat of your car. So be responsible. Vote.

And then live with your decision.

Me, I’ve already voted.

And lit a candle. Magic don’t fail me now.

Now I’m going to cuddle my kitties, make my rounds and find something to distract me until tomorrow.

Probably going to escape into a book and/or maybe watch V for Vendetta.

But, no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.

  1. I watched Escape Plan yesterday on Netflix. Sly and Arnie and Jim Caviezel. Entertaining and quite good. I like all The alphabet books and movies. V For Vendetta is good too. Whatever I do today will not be reading the news or listening to it. I have a ton of leaves to rake, so that will be part of my day. Maybe a nap is in my future. 🙂 My SIL came by yesterday and picked up a bunch of big, awkward crap and took it to the dump for me. Really great to see him. He and I are opposites on politics but we agree to disagree.
