The Wise Novelist

Nice Quiet Sunday In NoCo

Yesterday, my body was in no shape for any further outdoor chores. But I still needed to do my prep work for the week, so that meant a early trip north to the Loveland Walmart to buy the fruits and veggies (and avoid the higher Boulder County taxes that you get hit with at the Longmont Walmart).

While I was coming back I spotted the amazing group of Bull Elks all grazing on the lawn of a Loveland School. Of course I snapped their photo, but only managed to get the rear shot from my car.

They are magnificent creatures. I cannot even imagine the idea of hunting them.

Anyway, I got what I needed done for the week and made a few calls back east to friends like Helen L and Lenny during the prep process to catch up – and to prove to myself that I can multitask. I managed to keep all my fingers.

Although, speaking of fingers, Lisa did herself a mischief while out for a run and playing with her switchblade along the route.

So much for a dangerous woman’s ability to multitask. But she didn’t complain. Tough lady.

I didn’t have the balls to ask her exactly how it happened. She was still holding the knife.

She just applied a field dressing of a crushed wad of paper towel into a tight fist until the bleeding stopped. Again, tough lady.

I’m glad to see she got out in the nicer weather.

Luckily, that was all of the mischief that occured yesterday.

Claire and Honey spent the day traveling the property and replenishing their mule muffins.

And enjoying the sun.

and grabbing some lunch.

While Mittens (aka Mike) and Smokey grabbed their meals out front.

And Blue spent the day the way the Lord has decreed, resting.

But last night I was still pretty knackered from Saturday so after catching a few more episodes of Letterkenny – which is hilarious – I turned in around 8 pm, which was good because the critters were up early for breakfast.

Claire was actually waiting patiently in the dark at the back door. Honey was a few feet away. Thank God Claire didn’t start knocking. I threw on the lights for their meal.

So here we are my fine, five readers. Another Monday to be dealt with.

Let’s get our coffees in us and get at it before the day knows what hit it.

Tuesday is just a wake up away.

I better get at my kitty cuddling and my rounds.

But most of all, let us make today a great one.

  1. Looks nice. We have a few inches of new snow this morning. Left overs from the storms in CA. We are going to have a new grandson in August. Something to celebrate!

  2. Do you use subtitles for Letterkenny? Sometimes the Canadian English dialog is just too quick to catch for me.🙄

  3. I hope your wife’s hand is ok!! Looks superficial but the tendons run right where the puncture is!
And the ambience you provide for your mules to eat is outstanding!😃 Divas divas
