Yesterday was as quiet at Casa Claire as the Three (still snow covered) Witches.
Fitting, as our flags commemorated Memorial Day. God bless the Fallen and their families.
The Gnomes and supernatural weathervanes looked on in respectful silence.
Lisa did a per diem nursing shift to help out staffing on a Holiday. Luke and Georgie took the kids out on an adventure. There were no humans in physical form around to distract me.
I spent a major part of the day without entering into one human conversation. True bliss.
Spent that time contemplating my blessings, while remembering those who sacrificed to provide me this opportunity.
I had a wonderfully silent time hanging with the animals while I took care of things like getting my front fountain cleaned and back on line for the warmer months,
first time the water pump worked from the go without a litany of expletives, and a replacement order from Amazon. I added some of my moon charged stones to help keep the occasional tiny flying creature from falling in and drowning. I also topped off the troughs, bird bath and watered the front trees and bushes, including Jack The Spruce, The Old Man and The Ladies. It’s been warm lately, so they were extra thirsty. After picking up some more potting soil at the Berthoud ACE, I finished potting the front flower pots Lisa had started on Sunday before running out of soil.
I’m definitely going to have to pull that bush.
Realizing they had me to themselves, Claire and Honey hit me up for a few extra tithes in the morning before heading out back for a well earned siesta.
Later in the afternoon, after the Ozmandians returned, my go-to handyman, who I only know as Jo-Su (phon), stopped by to measure out a potential project – putting a large rolling track barn door on the South side of Geppetto’s Studio, right where that window now sits.
Lisa wants to convert that building into a larger, newer, sturdier and nicer barn for Claire and Honey. Can’t argue with that. The Mules deserve the best, and we’ll keep the original to store hay and other necessities.
Before life at CC returned to normal, I did get to watch a few episodes of the detective series Rebecca Martinson – Swedish with subtitles – before running out and scooping up Lisa from work.
Yesterday was the perfect Memorial Day Monday. Full stop.
I hope my fine, five readers enjoyed your day as well.
And now Tuesday is here helping us wind down May this week. Take your time with that last cuppa jo, no one will be rushing into work this morning. Stretch into it slowly and Friday will be here before you know it.
But I do have some kitties to cuddle and my rounds to make.
And just because the holiday is behind us, that does not mean we forget the reason we had it, and how precious life is for the living.
So, with that in mind, let us make today a great one.

You are going “full-monastic,” Brother Tom! Doing your chores, tending to the creatures – all done in splendid, silent isolation…. The other Tommy (Merton) would be very proud of you -in a humble, non-prideful way.👍🙏✝️📿☘️💯
Love the scent of geraniums.
Glad you had some solitude on Monday to allow you time to acknowledge your blessings
