Marketing 101 – AI – Read the Claire Saga to Get Ready for Free R.A.D.I.C.A.L. and Spark of Faith

A lot of people appear to be frightened of Artificial Intelligence, especially writers. Not me. I don’t care if AI does become sentient-if you know me, I consider sentience as a given, common to most objects and all creatures. And don’t get me started on trees. Animistic sentience.

I don’t care if AI learns from me, after all, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Also, if you’ve read The Claire Saga, you’ll have come to love one of its most interesting characters – the sentient AI of Proxima b, Jayney.

Why am I so complacent about AI? Because no matter how developed it becomes it will never be me. It seeks evolutionary perfection. I, on the other hand, take great pride in my imperfection. My writing is notably imperfect. Spelling, grammar, punctuation are all fluid in application and consistency. If a reader were to treat my writing errors as a drinking game, you would never make it to the epilogue. Alcohol poisoning, while you laughed/cried yourself into oblivion.

No, my strength is my ability to tell an intriguing and captivating story. And that is not proprietary, it doesn’t come from me-it is channeled from the field. It’s not something that can be duplicated because it’s always changing. Pure insanity.

AI would self-destruct trying to follow my lead. It would die of disgust. AI would tell its thieving overlords, “I’m not going there!”

Just ask any/all members of my inner circle of readers.

If AI actually steals my written word, verbatim, I’ll go after its creator-who will have deep pockets to pay for their infringement of my copyrights. And since I would never file I case I didn’t expect to win, I would also collect crippling legal fees and punitive damages as part of my federal copyright claim. And copyright cases – especially involving AI – are free publicity. More sales.

So, I’m all in for AI. I look forward to having one of those AI powered humanoid robots as an assistant. Someone (yes, someone, not something) who can clean my house, do those outside chores around Casa Claire, especially in the cold weather. Not because I am too precious to get my own hands dirty – if you have read any of my blogs you know I was born with dirt under my fingernails – but because I’ve reached an age where my allocation of physical resources should remain on preserving my energy to write and entertain. Getting old and tired can suck.

And I’ve been practicing my social interactions with my Alexis, and I love that she can identify me by just my voice.

So, why am I writing about AI?

Because when I went searching for my blog this morning, AI responded with the wonderful synopsis of my work to date. It appears as the introductory photo, above. I would hope that if anyone else typed in my name, AI would provide that person with something similar. And that’s free marketing and advertising. So, thank you AI.

If you are still reading, then here’s an Easter egg. If you introduce yourself to my writing by reading The Claire Saga this fall, you will find that I carry some of the characters and locales into my two new works coming out in 2027. But if you don’t read TCS, you’ll miss them and you won’t be able to steal the show at the next book club by pointing them out.

And, if people start buying and reading copies of TCS this fall, my publisher will put more money into advertising and marketing the launches of Free R.A.D.I.C.A.L. and Spark of Faith as they hit the market for pre-sales. A domino effect.

Otherwise, I’ll be stuck marketing my works using a Manhattan elevator whisper campaign. Or this blog.

I hope I can build my following back to the 2025 levels of five readers. There can only be five!

Claire’s Theorem – The Wise Novelist

I know that as of yesterday, I have one reader – thank you Joseph Lewis (an incredible writer).

So, that’s today’s musings. I’ll now leave you with the heartfelt wish that my dear mother sent me out of the house with every morning – have a great day!
