Mani-Pedi Day At Casa Claire – Early Spring?

This latest full moon has brought Spring back early along with it. The sky has been clear and beautiful.

And while I did leave Claire and Honey’s coats on Friday night.

By yesterday morning I knew I had to get those coats off the ladies and let their fur breath a little.

So when I tied them off for their mani-pedis, I also removed their winter coats and gave them a good brushing. When the farrier, Jason Bastemayer, (highly recommend) arrived he confirmed that, prognosticating groundhogs or no, the mules freely shedding fur was a clear sign of an early spring.

Jason is not only a Farrier, he is a full blown Smitty.

Later, while I was out by the barn unloading Tom Connolly’s latest delivery of high quality hay, and setting the world to rights with a good gab between two wise Celtic older men, Claire immediately came over and sampled yesterday’s delivery like a connoisseur right off the back of the truck. We held our breath to see whether she would send it back. But she smiled and winked and we knew it was the good stuff. At that moment the first honey bee of 2024 buzzed the three of us to let us know that it was time to set up Casa Claire’s Honey Bar Speakeasy. Maybe later today. I’ll have to steal some of Lisa’s honey.

Claire and Honey then spent the rest of the warm afternoon grazing the property and enjoying the sun.

You could tell they were enjoying the light breeze blowing their tails. They always turn their backs to the wind.

And this morning it remained pretty mild when I stopped by the front porch to serve the kitties their breakfast before feeding Blue and the ladies out back.

Now, Colorado weather is mischievous, so the snow and cold could return with a vengeance, but I will stay positive and accept the early taste of Spring mother nature has presented.

And when I was returning from feeding the mules this morning the coolest – slow motion – meteorite descended in the northern sky. So I wished hard upon it and when I came inside I learned that the individual five books of The Claire Saga, and The Claire Trilogy combined set, including the soon to be released Where The Ley Lines Meet, all made their way back into the top 100 of Amazon’s Humorous Science Fiction category. So, all is right with the world.

Now yesterday’s Mule Ringolevio and shifting 20 bales of hay certainly knackered this 67 year old perfect specimen of a man you see before you, and I would love to just fuck off today, but I need to do my upcoming week’s veggie/fruit prep and then barrow shift some mule muffins to Hadrian’s Wall, fill some hay bags and top off some water troughs. No rest for the wicked.

Green Acres has nothing on Casa Claire.

But before I get to that, I’m going to have another caffeine cuppa, cuddle some kitties and commence my rounds.

I hope you fine, five readers get to enjoy God’s day of rest, wherever you may be.

Great day to cuddle up with a book. Maybe time to begin to reread The Claire Saga so you are all primed for what Claire has assured me is the coolest finale in literary history with the dropping on April 16th of Where The Ley Lines Meet.

But no matter what else we get to, let us make today a great one.
