Luddite In A Technical Society

Yesterday was day 3 where my iphone was being a dick.

For a while now, I couldn’t apply any software upgrades because there wasn’t enough storage space and removing all of those Apps I never use was harder than it looks. Sure I could take them off my screen, but I couldn’t get them out of my phone.

I lost Bluetooth and could not get it to turn back on and my WiFi was basically telling me to fuck off.

I couldn’t post silly videos.

Finally, my phone sent me a message that said it couldn’t recharge because the phone was over heating.

So, late afternoon after I finished my day job I drove into Longmont to the closest T Mobile store and begged the young techies to help me.

One young man came to my rescue. He had to be in his late teens. I held out my phone and said “fix this.”

After trying all the tricks I have tried, he then suggested a Hard Reset.

After confirming it wouldn’t erase anything (that would take a Factory Reset) we went forward with it.

Then he was able to actually delete those ghost Apps.

But I still needed more space, so he suggested deleting my large file messages. I was worried that it would delete those attached large files – my videos – and he assured me that it would not. They would remain safely in my photos. He also assured me that I could still communicate with the people on my message lists.

He then told me that if I did what he recommended I would have enough storage to do the software updates, which would fix my Bluetooth, WiFi and Overheating problem.

So, I took his advice and sat out in my car and deleted most of the message strings I had just left on my phone because it made it easier for me to text people without looking them up.

By the time I drove back to Berthoud my software updates were completed and my phone was fit as a fiddle.

So, like an incurable hoarder, I shot a few more photos to fill the storage I had just cleared.

Starting with my trip home from Longmont, when I thought The Three Witches looked pretty cool on my horizon.

And then I spotted three birds in Lisa’s expanding aviary soup kitchen.

Of course, Bandit and Smokey were in their favorite Yin/Yang position in their lifeboat in my office.

And Claire and Honey were grazing out back.

And Mittens/Mike was posing out under The Old Man (side note – BC was the first to figure out the Acronym – TOM – well done sir).

And Smokey The Cat (distant cousin to FTC) came out of the weeds under JTS for a meal.

So, I expect that in no time at all, my iPhone will again stop functioning and I will be back at T-Mobile handing over my fucked-up phone like a two year old handing over a torn teddy bear. Thank you young techies.

Now I can also upload some of my expletive filled weekend Tree Surgery videos to FB and TT. Modern technology is a wonderful thing, even for us Luddites.

Well, we made it to Tuesday, another Monday safely behind us.

If you have a full plate of projects waiting for you at work, today is the day you clear as much off it as possible, while you still have the residual weekend energy and professional drive to do so. You want everything that needs to be done, wrapped no later than Thursday. Friday must be left free for the dreamers.

So, you fine, five readers, wash down that bagel with the second cuppa joe, and launch into the workday.

Me, I’m going to do my morning rounds and stop by Hayes for some flowers – they have beautiful arrangements – it’s Lisa and my 47th Anniversary – love ya sweetie – although the second one still takes the cake, as it was the night my eldest was born – happy birthday Luke (we left a card on your kitchen counter, enjoy) – may all of your birthday wishes come true. Good luck on that second novel – https://www.instagram.com/luke.mccaffrey.author/.

And, no matter what we get up to, let us make today a great one.
