Lucky Day Ladybug

Yesterday was a beautiful Indian Summer day in NoCo, especially at Casa Claire.

Clair and Honey spent a lot of the day in siesta mode out back.

The bees and wasps bellied up to water fountain for convivial sustenance after devouring two two-plate services worth of honey out in the Jax The Spruce Grotto.

Although I may have to come up with some netting system next summer, because I had to go out on a number of occasions and fish out some of the honey saturated party goers who had slipped and fallen into the fountain moat below. Do not drink and swim.

And earlier that day, on a morning run to Einstein bagels in Loveland, I had experienced a few miles of wonderful ride following a car with an ecstatic dog switching back and forth between two back car windows, enjoying the breeze on both sides of his face. Dogs know how to find their happiness.

It was such a nice day, that I actually voluntarily decided to clean the entire main floor, and the Tower en suite. Full service furniture shifting, sweep, vacuum, Swiffer and furniture wipe down. It’s those damn Joe Rogan Alpha Brain pills! I still hate housework.

But it was all worth it, when I came upon a Lady bug during my cleaning. That is good luck.

And so, it is true, if you work on your house, like Frances, in Under The Tuscan Sun, the ladybugs will arrive.

I looked upon the appearance of this lone ladybug in late October as a sign of continued good luck at Casa Claire this winter, and then took her outside and set her safely on Jack the Spruce to enjoy her freedom and fresh air.

And I got everything done early enough to swing down before picking Lisa up from work in Longmont and drop off Kathleen Donnelly’s two inscribed books to Lonnie Bell for installation on the MOS Literary Bookshelf.

No rest for the wicked, even on Sunday.

Well, today is the beginning of a new work week, and I have lots on my plate. So, I better get at it.

You fine, five readers fortify yourselves with an extra cup of Joe, and head off into the trenches. This too shall pass.

Except Joe Serrano (a character in both KMAG and FJM – the latter as Joe Marrero), who with his lovely wife Donna, are off on an extended holiday to South Korea & Vietnam, where they will be visiting their daughter and grandchildren. Enjoy the trip Joey (and D)!

I better be off for a kitty cuddle and my rounds.

And let us all make today a great one.

  1. What an awesome bonus for Berthoud Library Book Club to have both you and Kathleen Donnelly grace us with your presence during this past year. I loved listening to both of you tell your stories!!

    1. Thank you Carole. You can never have too many Celtic writers in one geographic location. We are drawn to where the magic is found.

  2. Tom- Did you ever notice that a dog will stick his/her head out a window and seemingly enjoy the wind in the face, but if you blow in their face, it seems to piss them off!!
