Lisa has been feeling very guilty about allowing her Shingles to interfere with her grandmotherly obligations so decided that yesterday we (me completely and forcibly conscripted) would spend the day with the feral Grans – first at the movie Wicked and then at the Berthoud Christmas Parade.
Exhausting.
Well, we purchased our reserved seating at the Centerra Metrolux Theatres
and then drove South to Longmont for twenty minutes, corralled the creatures, before driving North to Loveland for thirty minutes.
We managed to herd them all into the theatre, buy a lot of junk food and drinks that will hopefully disappear under RFK Jr. and then headed to our seats.
which, it wonderfully turned out, opened up like my favorite recliner
just in time for way too much movie trivia and then previews.
The good news is that watching the trailer for Mafusa: The Lion King
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13186482
convinced me that Hollywood will have no trouble bringing the CGI version of Claire to the big screen.
I mean its uncanny what the techies can do right now.
Finally, a very entertaining film version of Wicked played for the next two hours, its talking animal subplot resonating deeply [hate seeing any animals caged]. The principal actors – Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande – did a remarkable job on carrying the wonderful backstory to the Iconic WOO with beautiful voices, wonderful dancing and acting, and just enough action and magic to keep this old Druid captivated. Highly recommend.
Gun to head – Team Elphaba. But AG made it a very close call.
Then its was home for a quick pizza party then off to Berthoud – The Claire Saga’s version of Oz – for the annual town Christmas Parade.
Of course we brought chairs to tie the rug rats into so they would not escape into the dark.
We covered them with blankets so you could not see the Hannibal Lecter level bindings I had them locked in.
Anyway, we then got to sample small town Americana at its best.
And then my absolute favorite.
By the end, the girls were sugar charged by all the candy the elves in the parade had been handing out to them, but this Dude was exhausted, so Lisa and I brought them back home to watch the appropriately nuanced Grinch 2018 – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2709692/ – which wrapped just in time for the urchins to be collected by their very lucky father and returned to the Kingdom of Longmont.
I was so tired I couldn’t even watch TV after they left.
And I was still exhausted when my eyes opened at 2:12 am. Children are a young folks game.
But today is meant for catch up. Lots to do so I better get going.
You fine five readers go enjoy your ordained Day of Rest.
I’ll cuddle some kitties and make my rounds.
Then chores.
But no matter what we get up to, let us make today a great one.

What a magical and memorable day!!šš§šš
OMG! That sounded like a fantastic day. I’m so happy Lisa is feeling better and able to enjoy her grandmother duties (privileges in my mind).
I’m taking your recommendation for the movie to heart. I loved that play!! I saw it on Broadway a few years back and I still feel it in my heart when I hear the songs. And yes the recliners are nothing like the old movie theater seats.
The pics from the parade are fabulous. I have to admit I’d love to have an opportunity to do a parade like that. Small town parades in upstate NY no matter for what occasion were always so exciting. I can imagine how busy you’ll be today. Do remember it’s Sunday, a day of rest if you can squeeze any down time in your day.
Great blog today. I have a huge smile on my face.
Imagine if The Riverdale Cinema had Recliners?
