All change is good.
There’s an astrological term, “Full Moons are released.” It refers to the idea that the period of a full moon is a time for emotional release. You let go of whatever no longer serves you. A full moon provides clarity and insights into what holds you back from progressing.
The Hunter Moon that occured this past week during the 6th through 8th was the first Supermoon of the year, appearing 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual. It was the closest moon to the recent Autumn Equinox, and is the first of three consecutive supermoons (October, November, December) to close out the year.
Now I like to soak up the energy of every lunar cycle by nocturnal barefoot grounding under The Old Man out on the front property. I do it before I go to bed and a few hours later when the dogs wake me up.
The beauty of the timing of the nocturnal experience is that there is never any human around to witness the event. Just me, Gaia, The Old Man, the Beagle Brothers and the astrological forces above.
Eccentricity at its finest. It’s meditative and spiritual. Placebo effect or not, I feel energized by the experience. Clears my head. Calms me. Centers me.
The mild Autumn weather Tuesday/Wednesday at the Apex of the Supermoon was gentle enough to complete the latest nocturnal ritual skyclad. Figured I’d take the bare assed chance before NoCo became shrinkage cold. Reminded me of my streaker days from the 70s. Only back then I was more fun to look at and just another moving part among a boistrous crowd. Think the opening credits of Chariots of Fire starring a bunch of drunk teen BICs. I may have mentioned something about the experience in Finding Jimmy Moran (which, we must all remember, is totally fiction).
This particular week has been a bit more stressful than usual. Lisa was driving on Monday and her car was hit on the passenger side by another driver’s vehicle. Luckily, no one was injured. Fun times marshalling the relevant information and getting everything filed with the Insurance Company. But fingers crossed, Lisa’s Acura is with a reputable collision repair shop and we luckily still have my car (the Toyota from TWA) in an area where you really need a car.
Yesterday afternoon, I ended my last professional legal relationship. This particular collaboration, the fourth over my four plus decades of challenging legal practice, had been conveniently chugging along since 2007. However, the relationship had been degrading over this past year. Things were finally said that cannot be unsaid. But I still love him and I wish him the best of luck, as he really is a talented bastard. We had an amazing run and took on all comers. I’ll always be proud of the work we did and the results we accomplished at the peak of the entertainment litigation profession. But it is time for this magus to go. Full moon released.
And that’s okay, I’m turning 69 next month. Time for this poster boy Scorpio to completely transition from Lawyer-Writer to just Writer. The last of the Baby-Boomers all know we are on borrowed time, so we mustn’t squander it. I swore forty years ago that I would not die at my legal desk. Promises made, promises kept.
Time to manifest that Movie Deal for The Claire Saga. Time to write that next novel.
But this weekend will be a time to clear my head. Luckily, I have a Spa Day with Anna scheduled for tomorrow and Jason the Farrier comes by Sunday for Claire and Honey’s Mani-Pedi Day, plus all of the other chores I can do fully garbed around Casa Claire every weekend.
Well, you fine, five readers get out there and skive your way through this Friday. In one door to make sure everyone sees you and then duck out the other to begin this magical weekend. No one ever went to their deathbed uttering the phrase “if only I had worked one more day.”
And no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.

I’m both surprised and very happy to hear about your retirement🎉 from the practice of the law. Your certainly right that it was a long stretch that provided you with the means (a long with
Lisa) to provide the life that you wished for your family, both your children and fur family.🎊
A successful and rewarding career of many years but I’m thrilled to hear that you will now relax and enjoy the life you worked hard to achieve. 👣
Knowing you I imagine your life will be so busy you will look back and wonder how you ever had time to have worked and apply all those hours to your legal challenges and obstacles.🕰️
Thank God you have now arrived at that time to enjoy and allow you and Lisa a life you have both worked so hard to achieve.😎
The added perk (for us your loyal faithful readers) you will now have more time to write! 👏☺️
CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve it! Very happy for you
And yes, no one ever said “ I wish I had worked one more day.” !! Enjoy EVERY blessed minute of retirement !
And I’m glad your wife is Ok!!!
Congratulations on retiring from your years of lawyering for a living.
Now every day is Saturday! Will you still get up at 0 dark hundred in the morning?
When I retired decades ago, in spite of my plans, my sleep patterns never changed. Still early to bed, early to rise.
Also glad to hear Lisa is ok. Hope her car comes back good as new.
Congratulations on your retirement! I hope you enjoy your time off. I have a feeling you will keep yourself busy. I hope you will now have the time and energy to continue the Claire Saga story. I would love to read more. Good luck getting someone in Hollywood to pay attention to TWA. So happy Lisa ( and the other driver) was not injured in the accident. Please send her my best!
