Yesterday, Georgie and Luke drove South below Denver to the home of member of a rescue organization and retrieved two sibling puppies from the same litter that had been recently recovered from a kill shelter in Missouri.
The tan one is Sherlock and the dark and white one is Jasper.
Given that L&G are in the process of closing on a new home and the girls really missed Blue, we were thrilled to contribute a temporary home to these wonderful little creatures.
The energy in our house has immediately shifted.
I caught the moment Stella (the other two were in school) met her new “brother pups.” A hallmark moment that would look very comfortable on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post.
And later on, Scarlett played mom to Jasper,
While Sherlock grabbed some zzzzs next to Stella’s cushion.
But in no time the older girls
and their beautiful mum, Georgie,
had them out investigating Casa Claire (on lead of course, until they officially meet Claire and Honey).
Luke did have them out walking the grounds off lead but then again no one comes to harm on his watch.
Even checked out the new barn. Jasper is trying to figure out the size of the dog that left that poop.
Once they all shift to their new digs, Lisa and I will have to look into rescuing another bonded pair from one of the local shelters. More likely an older set. Puppies are adorable but are much more easily adopted. I’m a huge believer in second chances for those more likely not to get one.
But I do love the excitement and love emanating from the arrival of Sherlock and Jasper.
The Grans are ecstatic.
Speaking of excitement and grans, this week, Lucian, now a sixth grader, ran his first cross country race down in Georgia.
I see a huge upside here. just has to work on a moustache.
Preeeeeee!!!!!!
Well, Saturday is here and I have a delivery of Tom Connelly’s hay arriving shortly.
First I better get out and cuddle some kitties. Then my rounds.
Then some food prep out in the new barn.
You fine, five readers get out there and embrace the Labor Day weekend.
Tell all your friends at those barbecues that The Wise Ass is still available for free Kindle download until the end of today, which gives them the rest of the weekend to enjoy a wonderful read.
And no matter what else we all get up to, let us make today a great one.
