What I find most disconcerting with NoCo weather is that this
is what 50 degrees back east used to feel like to me. Other than during a subzero stretch this past winter, I haven’t worn a winter jacket, a sweatshirt has been sufficient, I can count the times I’ve worn gloves or a winter cap on the fingers of one hand and I haven’t even worn socks. It’s insane.
Although Blue still feels the chill in the air.
Snow in March seems to slow down time.
I’m never a big fan of the snow. It hampers my outdoor chores and movements. Makes me feel trapped inside. Especially after February.
Snow never seems to bother the Gnomes.
And Claire and Honey don’t seem the least bit perturbed by it.
because they understand that, hour by hour, the bright NoCo sun will start to take back the land, one spot at a time.
And as long as the magic mules can find their grounding spots, they remain philosophical about the whole thing.
Even the red wing black birds know that nature is a waiting game.
And the higher they sit in a tree, the warmer the sun feels. Spring weather is coming. Just wait.
So, the takeaway is that you just need to find your warmest spot, hang in there, and wait it out, like Didi and Gogo.
The snow will melt, the grass and trees will sprout, the world will again become green, and Where The Ley Lines Meet will hit the virtual shelves.
But I am impatient by nature and waiting always makes me anxious. A NYC DMV line could bring on a psychotic episode (NoCo DMV is like a spa day). And while I’ve reached an age where I should want every day to slow down to a crawl, I would gladly wish away the next two weeks as I wait for WTLLM to drop on April 16th. I know, it’s foolish. As The Claire Saga teaches us, be careful what you wish for. The end always comes too quickly.
Now I know that with my fine, five readers, I am preaching to the choir (or you are feeling very guilty) because you have enjoyed the first four books and are now primed to experience the “anarchy of brilliance” that is unleashed in this final(?) episode of The Claire Saga (thank you again, Dave Buzan).
And since we must all experience the next fortnight, why not use the time wisely – when you aren’t watching March Madness – or embracing your Christian duties – by revisiting (or introducing yourself to) the epic and topically spiritual journey of Claire the Mule and her mystical motley crew, apostles all. Because snow won’t keep you from reading. You can even hide my books within your prayer books, just try not to laugh during services. And it’s a great way to escape just about everything. Even boring, half-time talking heads. Or homily.
Here’s hoping for a bountiful and warm Spring.
But first, we must get through another hump day. Spy Wednesday for the devout. Not a good look, Judas,
So finish that second cuppa, get your skates on, and attack the hill. Wave past (Maudlin) Thursday to (Good) Friday at the peak, as the Sweet 16 awaits you there. Jesus may give you a mulligan on your faith but your brackets (and your bookies) won’t. Good luck.
Either way, a prayer may be in order.
While away the free time between now and then with some relaxing reading.
Now I’ve got some kitties to cuddle and rounds to cover.
But no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.

You need some emotional Colace. You are straining too much. The launch will be perfectly timed. And you will blossom like the trees and flowers.
