Harvest Moon Cycle

September’s annual three-night full moon phase or full moon window is again upon us.

Which means that during my early morning walkies with the Beagle Brothers – who both are characters in the soon to be published novel, Spark of Faith – I was able to enjoy the first night’s ambient light that illuminated the darkest stretches of the large Berthoud Park I take them to.

Astrologically speaking, this arrives at a perfect time because full moon energy is ideal for closing deals, publicizing work, or assessing results, and I’ll be turning in the final draft of Spark of Faith to the publisher, BRW, during the full moon window this weekend.

SOF is complete for story and writing purposes, and the ARC reader feedback has been extremely positive. All I really have left to do is to select which writers’ blurbs are going on the back cover. Any others that come in afterwards will be included in the inside front section of the book.

So, I will spend today taking one last look at the ms – I really hate reading my own work, which is why my inner circle has been invaluable to me – and then I’ll send it off to Reagan Rothe, Mary Ellen Bramwell and David King at BRW and sit back and wait for the publisher’s proofs for a final review before it goes into production.

The really good news is that in the year since I officially retired from the law, which was effective the end of September 2025, I’ve managed to complete two novels – Free R.A.D.I.C.A.L. and Spark of Faith – both of which will be published in January and May of 2027, respectively.

Not a bad creative harvest for this writer’s first year flying without a day job safety net. Time to reap what I sowed.

Now I get to spend the rest of the fall magically manifesting strong pre-sale orders through word-of-mouth marketing so the publisher can sleep at night knowing he made the right call backing this old dog.

And you can all tout The Claire Saga as my writer’s proof of literary concept. The subjects of your elevator whisper campaigns can wet their beaks on proven sci-fi/fantasy escapism in preparation for two very different genres – legal thriller and medical drama – of novels in the pipeline that are unexpectedly connected through the literary ley lines of spirituality and mysticism. Leaps of faith.

But the really good news for you fine, five readers, is that the real world today is again Friday – the magic portal to the weekend.

With any luck, you have put whatever project needs completing to bed by close of business on Thursday so you can make an appearance at the office just long enough to have witnesses of your presence. Proof of life. Then off you go at the first opportunity out whatever emergency exit whose alarm has been disabled and voila!
