Grand Day Indeed.

Yesterday, was Grand(parents/friends) Day at my grans’ very posh private school, Dawson: https://www.dawsonschool.org/

Lisa is still recovering from her nasty bout of Shingles so my sisters, b&v, who personally oversee all things educational for their great-nieces and nephews (never understood why direct descending line is “grand” but lateral equal level of familial descent is “great”) attended to wave the Clan flag.

That’s b, Georgie and v, left to right. Hobbits and Elf.

Having lived a great deal of time in Europe, they carry with them an old school la noblesse oblige (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noblesse_oblige) that they carefully instill in the generations that have followed, including my own children and their children. It takes a village. And we are all blessed.

Feels a little like – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Importance_of_Being_Earnest#:~:text=First%20performed%20on%2014%20February,young%20women%20of%20their%20affections.

I tried to capture that with their bonnie and t characters in The Claire Saga.

Anyway, . . . .

I’ve posted some videos of my solo tour around the Dawson campus on my FB page, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/ptG1ME92bDoPXZCV/

but didn’t get to take too many photos on the actual tour because, with all of the little kids around, I didn’t want to creep people out.

There were wonderful performances and speeches, all indicating that this is indeed a special place. I thought this particular chart aptly captured the gestalt.

And the most important thing I observed was that every student in every grade (k-12) appeared to be comfortable in their surroundings. All oozed confidence and happiness.

But I did get some photos.

So, for example, it’s no surprise that I did snap a photo with a wonderful young au pair from Sweden named Ebba Lund,

Who just arrived in the US last week, and is the caretaker for Scarlett’s bestie, Tatum,

Turns out that Ebba is exactly the type you would want watching your kids, in that Ebba comes from a family of Cops back in Sweden. Her father, mother and brother are all in Law Enforcement. She hopes to follow their lead when she returns. Ebba, like Georgie, is a tall, charming and lovely young lady.

Ebba graciously snapped the Clan photo.

Speaking of Scarlett, I did find one of her art works on one of the random walls. Of course it was Day of the Dead themed.

and there were some candid photos,

I did get to read Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are to a few of the kids during the Library segment of the classroom visit, so that was fun. Felt very natural. And given my grans feral predilections, appropriate.

So, it was a wonderful morning, and v&b took the girls back home – Georgie was part of the welcoming committee and had to remain behind – while I headed north back to Casa Claire, where Lisa waited patiently for a full report.

Okay, today I have to return to my blue collar roots and replace the kitchen faucet. So that means a run to Home Depot, before I get to my weekend chores, so I better get moving.

First some kitties to cuddle and rounds to make.

You fine, five readers take your time, have that third cuppa, and then launch into those errands.

But get your feet up as soon as you can. After all, it is the weekend.

And no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.,
