You’d never know looking at that opening photo that those three adorable devil’s spawn had just spent their time putting a very patient Blue through a neon dress-up!
That is not an app. That is the real deal with pipe cleaners and sunglasses and a very patient dog. There is just no escaping these three little witches, especially on a holiday where you cannot even hide in your office pretending to work.
And they are everywhere you turn. For example, while I was out watering the trees yesterday morning, I glanced over and spotted Stella (yes from the novels) doing her floating hair impersonation of Carrie as she was summoning the fae to do her bidding.
Later, I caught her mimicking her favorite cryptid.
I must get a DNA test for that girl.
Scarlett (yep, she’s a character) tried to sneak up on me, and when I caught her she tried to blend in with the gnomes and the dog.
They must believe I have dinosaur vision.
Still later, I spotted a new fairy swing hanging from The Old Man,
and a little beyond it, its creators in the shadows, trying their best to hide behind their strips of red yarn. I suspect Savanna (on the right, and yes, also a character) was the mastermind. She’s very creative.
I did try turning them into soup, in the hot tub, but they are impervious to all evil intentions.
And adding insult to injury, were their two progenitors, smirking away knowing that I may never find peace again at Casa Claire.
And I did try to escape the annual water balloon fight – Luke against everyone else –
doing my best to film it all from behind a corner until Luke took aim at my iPhone and nailed it.
It literally knocked the iPhone from my hand but luckily the balloon did not break. I’ll post the actual video on my FB page. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091444194790
But at least I didn’t have to feed the rugrats, their mom handled that.
by feeding them on the very expensive rug, of course.
But Georgie did cook a wonderful meal for the adults as well. Eggplant parm and burgers on the Barbie. I enjoyed the Beyond Meat burgers.
And as is to be expected, the three little witches taunted me endlessly for sleeping through the night before the 4th fireworks in Berthoud that they were able to excitedly observe from the wonderful panoramic view off the back deck, while their exhausted grandfather, snored away in the tower.
I was snoring again while the three urchins danced for a second time last night to another round of closer fireworks observed from that back deck while donning glowing pink neon bangles and singing their witchy songs. I’m searching for the video of it as I write this. Stay tuned.
While Claire and Honey took refuge from it all in Claire’s Wee Laire (the final “e” is intentional).
Youth is wasted on the young.
But the Holiday was memorable as a long beautiful day of perfect weather with three generations of the Clan all haunting Casa Claire at the same time. And I’ll take that any day.
Happy Birthday America.
Now today found poor Lisa having to work a per diem, so that interrupted my blogging and delayed my rounds. I still have chores to take care of, like moving a ton of recyclables and garbage to the road so I must be off.
I hope you fine, five readers had a wonderful holiday, and are able to ride it through the weekend.
And no matter what else we get up to, let us make this Friday a great one!

Casa Claire is so full of life, love and fun. Your granddaughters really keep you on your toes. You won’t be aging with them around, there’s no time for any slowing down or aging in your life.
Luke has great aim! What’s the chance that balloon didn’t break😲 now the real question is did you pick it up and throw it back at him?
I know Lisa is retired and willingly going in for the per diem shifts but I can’t help but wonder if a day at the hospital is calmer than a day at Casa Claire? Only kidding! I’m sure Lisa is loving having the family there and still being able to continue using her nursing skills and helping others as she has done for so many years.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
