The above photo is Dave Buzan. He is a writer I met not too long ago through our common publisher, BRW. I have never met Dave in person or spoken with him on the phone. However, I have communicated with him extensively by email and DM. More importantly, I have followed Dave on social media and I have also read his award winning, best selling debut novel, In the Lair of Legends.
My assessment?
Dave is one of the nicest people you may ever want to know. I’ve watched him ubiquitously appear all over social media supporting other writers and people in general. And this is not an act, it is who he is. I’ve got an amazing bullshit detector. I always keep it pointing away from me so as not to self-destruct.
I also got to see what a wonderful husband he was with his posts this past year about his trip to Disney Land with his lovely wife. I cannot tell you how many times I came upon one of his posts and said, “Aaawwww.” No one has ever heard me do that in public, and never will.
Dave is also one hell of a writer.
He has meticulously taken a historical setting and seamlessly woven Big Foot into the storyline. It also has a three dimensional Native American lead character that you are compelled to root for. Lots of action. Great story from beginning to end. Definitely potential movie material.
I am terribly jealous of his talent and his hairline.
Nothing has been handed to Dave. He works his day job like the rest of us struggling writers. He has worked hard for what he has and he has never quit chasing his dream. He really cares about his craft. He has an amazing attention to detail. This is reflected throughout his writing. And he is selfless in his praise and support for other writers.
In fact, Dave is so talented and nice, that I selfishly begged him for a blurb for my latest novel, Where The Ley Lines Meet. He has graciously provided me with a fantastic blurb to go with the other fantastic blurbs that will appear on its cover. So thank you Dave.
And it turns out that today is Dave’s birthday. In light of the interesting fact that it now falls on Friday the 13th, let me usher all of my positive magical wishes that today is extra special for this fine man. I know that Dave has an ad running for his book on the Times Square Jumbotron throughout today. I pray that at least one of my fine, five readers (and millions of tourists) gets a chance to spot it and offer their birthday wishes for its continued best seller status. If you see it, snap a photo and send it to me.
So, Happy Birthday Dave Buzan, you rock.
May all of your birthday wishes come true.
Okay, now I must get on with my Friday the 13th.
First a kitty cuddle and then my rounds.
But 13th or not, Friday is Friday.
So you fine, five readers get out there and start your weekend before the boss has a clue.
Just don’t walk under any ladders or break any mirrors.
And most of all, let’s make today a great one.

Tom,
Well said. I met Dave in San Antonio–just as sincere as you observed, and I felt the same envy on the whole hairline thing. Bought The Wise Ass and it’s on my list! Keep em coming.
Wow, Cam thanks so much for the support. See that, Dave pays dividends by the other nice people he draws into one’s orbit. Turn about is fair play. I just picked up both of your Tyler Zahn books and now they are in my stack. Will post reviews once I get through them. Good luck with your writing. And thanks for reading my blog.
I keep telling you- You now have six readers!!
LOL, Claire’s Theorem.
