Feels Pretty Good

Well, I really expected yesterday to be different.

But it turned out to just be another day in paradise (a/k/a Casa Claire).

More things arrived to take their place in Lisa’s revamped living room, like the opening shot of two accent swivel chairs and a huge doggy bed for the Beagle Brothers with hopes that we can reduce their time on the new furniture.

The two chairs had to be scotch guarded (against the grans) which meant I not only had to carry them inside the house after they were delivered to my driveway, but outside again to the side property to be sprayed and back inside again after the treatment dried. They are heavier than they look.

But it turned out just perfect.

And afterwards, I got to take care of two important things on my To Do list.

I literally mended a fence (not a metaphor – not interested).

and then I fixed my hot tub – Skyclad’s – control panel, which got the temperature rising,

and the jets flowing.

which might be metaphors.

And later I checked on how Clancy and Shamus (Séamus or James), two concrete Irish Gnomes that are as old as I and were purchased late last week to join the Casa Claire Gnome crew, were settling in.

Shamus (as as any good Jimmy) took his place front and center on Gnome Island, where he stands guard with the crew. As with any Irishman, what he lacks in size he makes up for in fight, vigor and personality.

While Clancy, my Gnome laborer permanently affixed to a wheelbarrow (I’m getting there), asked if he could spend his time with the cats, dragons and gargoyles under Jack the Spruce, collecting pine combs.

Where he has a clear view through the fence rails of his dear friend, Shamus.

Speaking of cats, I heard Clancy and Shamus sharing a fine craic yesterday evening, gabbing away in Gaelic, when I stepped out to the JTS Grotto to feed Smokey,

and Mittens (a/k/a Mike)

Indeed, I caught the two micks, away from their posts, letting me know who runs the show here at Casa Claire. Imigh leat!

And that’s okay. I’ve been married long enough to understand that it’s never been me.

And finally, the first day of the rest of my life ended as most do, checking on Claire and Honey out back,

as I saw to their dinner service before calling it a day.

And then it was back to my favorite now leather recliner perch.

To stream some BBC.

So, I think I’m going to enjoy this new life, assuming Lisa tears up her Honey Do List. Maybe I’ll get some writing in.

My first free Monday has provided a new appreciation of this added back day to my life.

But today is Tuesday and I have rounds to make and some of my Casa Claire daily chores to get to, and then a few more things that have been ignored but are now demanding my attention. Check.

You fine, five readers get out there and go about your days with as much passion as you muster. Life passes very quickly, and before you know it . . . .

Never phone it in. Every day is a new opportunity to show the world who you are. Don’t be shy about it.

And, no matter what is on our daily plate, let’s remember to make today a great one.

  1. I’m so happy you have joined the life of RETIRED people.
Though life still gets busy, there are still some stress and deadlines, it’s nothing compared to 50 years or more of working, school, raising a family, paying bills…etc.
    How did we do it?!;😳😩😫
    Enjoy☺️👣😎
