Embrace The Strange

I mentioned the other day how some kind neighbor anonymously dropped off a bag of what I call Mandrake Carrots on my front porch while I was off galivanting with the mystical in Loveland on Sunday. Well, Claire and Honey had been sampling the fare throughout the week and yesterday I was down to this last bonded group of magical carrots that were chock full of mojo, so I gently untangled them and shared the batch with my mules,

for having performed a wonderful job maintaining the front area.

Indeed, one of the local birds spent some time drinking from the trough while supervising their work.

Note how the bird keeps its footing on the safety nets I have installed. I highly recommend it to other folks that have troughs to keep the birds from accidently drowning.

I find that it is best to accept the gifts life offers, like anonymous Mandrake Carrots, even if they may seem strange at first.

My luck seems to hold here on Casa Claire.

I had mentioned recently that my electrician, Randy Porter, was going to drop by this weekend to see why the power had gone out in Claire’s barn and Geppetto’s studio. I need the power on to feed the heaters that keep Claire and Honey comfortable during the cold NoCo winter.

Out of the blue Randy – who is a dead ringer for the actor John Michael Higgins (Best In Show) – called and said he had free time later in the afternoon and could stop by. That lucky break freed me up to take care of other chores this Saturday.

Turns out that the issue was just a thrown breaker – one I didn’t know fed the outer buildings – so it was an easy fix and the power is back on. I will swap out the old heaters this weekend with the new set I just had delivered. That – along with the plumber, Larry from Jones Plumbing, repairing my outside spigots last week – takes care of the last of my pre-winter check list. Another lucky break.

Last night was the first of the three nights of the full Harvest Super Moon. It did not disappoint.

I set my intention candle burning, which is focused on the success of The Claire Saga, and will let the Universe take its course. Must not micromanage. So far, so good.

Indeed, TWA is now into it’s fifth day at the #1 spot in its new category – Metaphysical Science Fiction. Claire is thrilled.

Finally, I checked to make sure that the elves back door was working properly before the cold weather sets in. All is well. Check.

It is this little bit of whimsy that feeds the soul and makes life so wonderful.

But speaking of feeding, I have a cat that needs her breakfast and some cuddling and the local horses and dogs need their treats on my rounds.

Thursday beckons to us, with Friday waving over its shoulder.

You fine, five readers get out there and find your whimsy and embrace the strange.

But most of all, let’s make today a great one.
