I am the luckiest guy in the world. Claire has taken the top spot in a brand new genre – Metaphysical Science Fiction ebooks.
And the Metaphysical and Sci-Fi readers seem to enjoy it.
And while I was thrilled with Claire’s dominance for these past 2 1/2 years in the Kindle Dark Humor category, and felt quite comfortable there, my publisher, Reagan Rothe, thought it was time to go after new and a broader group of readers. Since I don’t know shit from Shinola about the publishing business, and RR hasn’t steered me wrong yet, I of course agreed.
Reagan likes to focus his marketing resources on The Wise Ass. He says that the first book will lead the reader into Claire’s world, and the writing will keep them coming back for more.
As I said, so far so good.
I am a big fan of Metaphysics – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaphysics#Etymology
And yes, my books engage in the “beliefs in arbitrary non-physical or magical entities.” It’s what I know.
And of course, wherever you find extraterrestrials, there is Sc-Fi.
So, this seemed to be a welcoming category.
And metaphysicians and Sci-Fi aficionados also have a sense of humor.
This experiment seems to have worked. Thank you Reagan.
It has put Claire back in the #1 position, and we are thrilled.
And while pole position is a wonderful barometer of the success of a book, what I find more rewarding and gratifying is hearing what the readers think.
I always check the reviews for each of the books. I so badly want the people who buy my books to enjoy their experience. I want them to get their money’s worth. It’s like a date. You put your best foot forward and hope the other person likes what they are seeing.
It seems this new group has its reviewers, and that is a good thing. Reviews keep the momentum going.
I am often asked, how do you keep those Amazon Book Reviews coming in?
My answer from the very beginning has been and remains today, “I don’t have a fucking clue.”
I mean, I know RR employs a marketing plan on Amazon and FB and on other literary websites. I’ve never understood how it works or actually seen an ad. But not understanding how something works doesn’t keep me from enjoying it or I would never drive a car or sit down at my computer or turn on a TV or have sex.
RR has continued to work the same magic for the other books that have followed TWA to form the remainder of The Claire Saga. I know he’s excited to get started on Where The Ley Lines Meet.
So, thank you again, Reagan Rothe. Keep up the great work.
And thank you Amazon Reviewers from the Metaphysical and Sci-Fi world. I love to find out that you enjoyed the first date. I hope you come back for more. I have lot’s of tricks to keep you interested and engaged. I have Claire.
So, we are happily onto Tuesday.
A cat needs its cuddles and the rounds need to be made.
To the extent any one or more of my fine, five readers are into metaphysics and sci-fi, I offer my added thanks for your support. Tell your friends.
Now let’s get that last cup of coffee in us and get out there and conquer the world.
But most of all, let’s together make today a great one.
