The creatures of Casa Claire have free reign on the property. My role here is to make my regular rounds as unobtrusively as possible to ensure that their every needs are met, doing my best not to interrupt their enjoyment. This means basically making sure there is adequate food and water readily available. Troughs and water fountains must be regularly topped off throughout the day.
First among equals is checking on Claire, like yesterday, during the height of a very hot sun, I didn’t see her grazing in her usual spots and so went to check the barn, where I found her comfortably lounging in the cooler shade, directly in the path of the wall and ceiling fans.

Smart girl. The rest of the day she was out and about the different areas of Casa Claire with Honey, grazing away.

Of course, while checking on Claire and Honey I also check on all of the creatures.

Because these creatures trust me to do my job. And if they have to put up with my paparazzi tendency to constantly snap their photos, it is a small price pay for their comforts at Casa Claire.
All of these creatures, the regulars and those just passing through, bring me much joy. They add to the collective magical energy of the property. They fuel my imagination. They give me purpose.
So, each day as I make my rounds and do my head count, I feel their gratitude, which only adds to my own.

This blog reminded me that those in our care generally don’t even move when in our direct path. They have such trust in us expecting that we will walk around them … which of course we always do. ❤️
