A Soggy Day

Shall we engage in a cliché and talk about the weather.

Tuesday gave Colorado more precipitation in one day than we normally get in the month of September.

Claire and Honey spent most of the day in the Old Barn because it shortened their trips back and forth to the patio to get their snacks.

I don’t blame them, because they had to walk through muck to make each trip.

The good news is that it kept me from doing a lot of the daily Casa Claire outdoor chores other than turning off the fan and turning on the heaters in the new barn when I went to set out their dinners.

Luckily I have muck boots – “Wellies” https://www.wellies.com/ – for just that kind of thing.

I can’t blame the Beagle Brothers who spent most of their rainy day sleeping.

And the high dew count made the high forties temperature go right to your bones. So sweatshirts were worn indoors.

The bad news is that a day of unrelenting rain hits me right in my self-diagnosed, mild form of SAD (Seasonal Affect Disorder) sweet spot.

But it all worked out just fine. Soaked my property – including the latest additions to the Jack The Spruce Grotto – and fed all of the plants and trees and aquifer a solid measure before the cold creates the annual winter impermeable permafrost.

I had professional work to keep me busy indoors.

And while sustained legal focus tames my imagination – offering me less flights of fancy to distract me – sometimes that primal preternatural portal needs an involuntary rest imposed upon it. But no too much or too often.

The good news is that the starry sky was clear when I muddied my feet this morning under The Old Man, who was happy with the soaking among the connected arboreal network on the front property. A Celtic Rule. Imbibe whenever the opportunity presents itself.

However, I’m actually looking forward to getting back outdoors today. I’ll will have enough restrictive confinement in the winter months.

So, I better get to it.

You fine, five (?) readers suck down that coffee and get your skates on. The Hump is waiting.

Friday will be waving on the horizon.

And no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.
