As eccentric as I may be, as reflected in how I present myself and accessorize certain areas here at Casa Claire, my driving force is to welcome creatures whose lives may not have been perfect.
It is a portal that offers comfort and protection, indeed, you can palpably feel it as you enter.

Along with those Casa Claire Creatures that have spent time on this energy plane and have now passed, I maintain my present domesticated fur family of Claire and Honey,

who, along with the Beagle Brothers,

have their run of the property. Very Laissez Faire. I make sure they are fed, watered, housed, brushed and properly prepared for all four seasons. They also see their vets and farrier as needed. Other than that, their lives remain unscheduled and unrestricted.
Then I have my regular visitations from members of my murder of crows,

who love the vantage point of the dead tree branches out back. And they gobble up any leftovers to the Mule snack time.
And then there’s my Bronx pigeons,

who stop by to make sure I’m staying true to my asphalt roots. While their more countrified cousins, the mourning doves, stop by for some water recreation,

There are the other wild birds that love to come for a meal or drink,

and sometimes a bath.
And we also enjoy the daily visitation of Mittens/Mike

and Smokey

who regularly lounge around the Jack The Spruce Grotto,

but freely come and go without invitation And they know they can hunker down full time in the heated Casa Claire Cat cottages during the inclement weather.

But every once in a while, you get other wild creatures that may be a little be a little down on their luck,

https://thewisenovelist.com/life-can-be-dear/
and you do what you can to give them comfort without startling them or intruding on them.

Because sometimes that is all you can do. Nature can be unforgiving.
For example, recently we have a young fox that stops by the Jack The Spruce Grotto because it knows there is always cat food set out and about,

and it can always find cool fresh water with the Faeries,

or the fountain.

Now, that poor creature looks like it may be suffering mange. It breaks my heart seeing it in that condition. Not sure there is a lot I can do for it besides offer it an easy meal and protection when it wanders by the Grotto. I would try and trap it, so I could take it to the local wildlife center, but my neighbor’s old dog regularly wanders through and scoffs up the leftover cat food, and I just know it would end up in the trap. Unlike my feral cats, who are used to me coming and going through the front door, the moment the fox senses your presence, it’s gone. The point is that despite its aversion to humans it has learned that it can find some momentary comfort here. Kindness. That is the energy of Casa Claire.
Well, Tuesday is upon us. The week is as good as over. Just need to close your eyes and click your heels and Friday will arrive.
But I have lots to take care of before that can happen, so I better get at it.
You fine, five readers finish up that cuppa and dig in. The busier you make yourself, the faster time will fly.
And no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.
