Leap And The Net Will Appear

My sister, Veronica – the basis for “Bonnie” in TCS – used to say that title line to me throughout my childhood. She borrowed the line from John Burroughs, a 19th-century American naturalist and essayist. She always wanted me to take developmental chances, or kill myself trying. Still does.

“Good writers borrow, great writers steal.” TS Elliot.

So, to contribute to my development as a great writer, I took a chance and stole that line from them both, and used it in TCS.

I got to thinking about developmental leaps yesterday.

Even the best of us have to land sometime. Between leaps forward.

Which brings me to an aviating acridoidea.

It seems that one of the large NoCo flying grasshoppers sharing the Jack the Spruce Grotto took a liking to my left big toe while he waited for me to finish watering the plants so he could get back to bouncing around their flowers.

I love when creatures feel comfortable enough around my energy to just hang. In this case, long enough for a video and a couple of stills.

He joined me as a witness to my creative nurturing of my natural surroundings.

Tinkering with the real Casa Claire as a metaphor to my creation of the literary version of it.

Probably mistook that toe for a toadstool.

Yes, my feet look that way because I spend most of the time at Casa Claire barefoot, like my literary ancestors, the hobbits. But I will wear Birks as work shoes when the need arises.

It takes me ten minutes each of hard brushing in the shower to get those feet to look the least bit human. And after one grounding, its back like this. It’s almost Pig Pennish.

I avoid shoes until the temperature drops so low I go numb.

And even then it’s just a wool sock under the Birks.

But back to my grasshopper. No mystical slouch. According to my favorite AI –

“Grasshoppers, in mystical symbolism, often represent good luck, abundance, and forward movement. They can also symbolize transformation, spiritual awakening, and a connection to divinity.”

I guess the Universe is telling me its time to leap forward.

My present creative focus is to have TCS leap to the big screen. Like my grasshopper, I am taking a moment, not to chase, but to attract. When the right opportunity presents itself, I’ll leap.

While I continued nurturing chores and allowed that intention to manifest, and it will, my mystical path crossed with more arthropodan symbolism, prognosticating that my dreams will take flight.

There I was, out back, shoveling shit by Claire’s Wee Laire, when this huge fellow buzzed me a few times to get my attention.

I called for him to hang out so I could capture him on film. He was very accommodating and I managed to get three videos of him. The best one went up on my FB & TT pages:

Everything carries a message, if you know where to look.

According to my favorite AI,

“Dragonflies generally symbolize change, transformation, adaptability, and new beginnings. They are often seen as a reminder to embrace change, live life to the fullest, and appreciate each moment. In various cultures, they also represent spiritual growth, wisdom, and the connection between the physical and spiritual realms.”

And for those who have followed these blogs, you know how much I’m into spiritual growth and the connection between the physical and spiritual realms. It’s all right there in The Claire Saga.

I’m hoping my dragonfly launches me to the creative stratosphere, and beyond.

There will be no wasteland for this Tommy. So, let’s close these unintuitive connections along an intuitive path with a stolen “Shantih, shantih, shantih.”

Well, my fine, five readers, there you have it.

“Leap and the net will appear.”

However, I think we’ll go farther if we save our leaping until we reach the peak of this hump day.

If one must leap, you want to get as much air as possible.

May flights of aerial arthropods carry us to success.

And no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.
