All Quiet On The Western Front

Colorado is considered one of the Wild West states –

hence the title of today’s blog.

It is also obviously a play upon that novel by Erich Maria Remarque, I just hope I fare better than Paul Bäumer. But I digress.

I found this awesome hawk feather on my rounds yesterday morning,

which I took as a spiritual message of insight and protection.

My spirit guides are nothing if not timely.

Other than a full-blown, high octave, spittle spraying, verbal donnybrook between me and the Mrs. over my adamant refusal to stop what I was doing yesterday morning – my day job – to go out and clear all vegetation from the area where the bouncy water castle will ultimately rest – that logic commands can and will be done the morning of the party – yesterday was relatively peaceful at Casa Claire.

The lazy Beagle Brothers,

and Smokey the cat,

stayed out of the solar intensified fray. As did Claire, who was too busy scratching her own ass out back to come to my defense. Honey was hiding from the negative frequency arising from the increased decibel level. Long ears are sensitive to decibel levels.

I blame the heightening Lunacy on the peaking Sturgeon Moon, which looked like this when I finally toddled off to bed,

and like this a few hours later when I went to let the Beagle Brothers out for their morning Constitutional.

Luckily, I used those latter moments to top off my electron charge through some full moon grounding under The Old Man, which brought me back into mystical balance and reduced the pain and stress that I’m sure would otherwise result in the Widow Maker, a man’s final option to release himself from his marital mortal coil. Better than a cyanide pill in your molar.

I also used part of yesterday confirming the Beagle Brother’s day away at the Dog Ranch Spa, and booked them both for another bath and Mani-Pedi, among their other day care activities, so they are relaxed and refreshed upon their return to a hopefully child (and parent) free Casa Claire late Sunday afternoon. I’m quite ready to trade places with them. I’m not averse to wearing collars.

Now I just have to survive one more party preparation day without having to dig any (more) 4′ x 6′ x 10′ plots in the moonlight.

I have a secret weapon to get me there, an incantation that I have carried with me from childhood, when I honestly suspected my dad was closely related to Ralph Kramden.

“Pins and needles, needles and pins, it’s a happy man who grins.”

Now, what am I mad about?

Wish me luck.

And you, my fine, five readers, are welcome to invoke that incantation in your own lives, but you will not need it today, because it is a Saturday in August, so you will most likely be resting beside some large and cool body of water, sunscreen slathered, escaping to Neverland in the pages of some amazing book.

“Beware the law of unintended consequences.” Aldor, An Alien Appeal.

Thank the Universe that man hasn’t yet found the wormholes. But I’m keeping both eyes on Elon Musk.

In closing, let us all remember – that no matter what we get up to, or what life (or wife) throws at us – to make today a great one.
