Adding To The Whimsy – And The Arrival Of Bulletproof

As I’ve mentioned, my whimsical glimmers are visually created.

So, as one approaches the front portal of my home, they are already subjected to flashes of subliminal implants – witches, sasquatch, dragons, skulls, faeries, gnomes – that they may only catch out of their peripheral vision. Then there are the ubiquitous chimes, of all sizes and tones, that always tinkle as you pass through the Jack The Spruce Grotto. It’s all imprinted as you walk through my door.

Given the arrival of feral children to Casa Claire this weekend, for the birthday party for dear Scarlett

– yes the basis for the character in The Claire Saga – I was thrilled that the order of my latest whimsical glimmers arrived yesterday afternoon. And I went right out and mounted them on the perfect spots on the front property.

First to be set on a perfect stump just before Gnome Island, was a wonderful rusty patinaed figure that I just could not resist.

He hasn’t told me his name yet, but after some prodding from his three dimensional band of brothers behind him, I’m certain it will be forthcoming.

Now I wanted to add more whimsy to the recently colonized pool area, so I made sure to order two fairy sisters to protect those grans and friends who stray by the water. I had the perfect stumps waiting for them.

And any child who wishes to gain access to the ladder to gain entry to the pool, will be compelled to pass between them.

Belt and suspenders to the always watchful human (and other) eyes that will keep the children safe.

Speaking of children, my eldest, Scarlett’s father, had a banner day yesterday, as copies of his second novel, Bulletproof, started arriving in the mail around the country.

I was thrilled to receive my copy.

It is an action packed story with a perfect dash of mystical that continues with the international epic of O’Hara Poit, that was so wonderfully launched in Luke’s debut novel, Lebanon Red.

Did I mention that Luke spent some time living in the Middle East, including forays in Lebanon, so you can taste the sand on your tongue.

Plus, did I mention he’s a bad-ass, like his mother.

If you want a breathtaking way to wrap up the summer reading season grab a copy of these two books and binge read them. But have your mental passport at the ready because these books are a globe trotter.

Well, Tuesday is upon us, thank God. Another Monday in our rear view mirror.

Let us launch from our third cuppa as far into the day as possible, like a swimmer off the block, so that the remainder of the first lap is made so much shorter by the caffeine boost.

I can hear Friday in the distance egging us on.

But, no matter what else we get up to, let us make today a great one.
