Yesterday, the sun came out.
The morning was still cool enough to do the outdoor chores without dying.
So I took advantage of the nice weather and while Claire and Honey napped

I cleaned out their troughs.

While at it, I saved a small spider from drowning.

Once that was done, Claire and Honey came up for their snacks.

Leaving lots of hoof prints in the mud.

And satisfied with my accomplishments, I decided to leave Casa Claire and drop in on the Berthoud Day Parade.

I have a 10 minute video with clever running commentary that would make Jack McCarthy (NY St. Paddy’s Day) proud as I walked against the current through old town and covered the entire parade. If I ever figure out how to break it into bite sized pieces, I’ll post it on FB, IG and TT.
However, I did grab screen shots of the more memorable moments.

And as always I marveled at the kitsch and Americana and was thrilled at enjoying a sunny day with a crowd of people that must have been bussed in because you never see them on a regular day in Berthoud.
Anyway, no sooner did the last float pass by than the entire crowd dispersed off Mountain Avenue like cockroaches in a NY Tenement kitchen. So, I headed back to Casa Claire and took care of some other chores, including Claire and Honey’s lunch, before parking my ass in the recliner and binging a few more BBC series, including season 1 of Death Valley, with Timothy Spall and Gwyneth Keyworth. Lighthearted, touching and humorous.
It seems that cleaning the troughs made me more tired than I thought.
However, I was determined to stay awake and participate in last nights CE 5 global sky watch – https://x.com/DrStevenGreer/status/1929267239766610304
So Bandit, Smokey and I manned our chaise lounge and kept our eyes peeled.

Where we did spot this silent anomaly (moving right to left across the sky) which went dark as got closer to the moon and then started flashing its lights on the far side of the moon in a way I have not seen before. I’ll post the video on FB.

Well, as I was unable to drift off to sleep, I also watched a dystopian film The Night Eats The World, which was set in one of my favorite cities – Paris.
Which went later than I ever stay awake. And while my internal alarm got me up at my regular hour, after letting the dogs out front, I fell back asleep on my couch. Where I awoke at the unusually late hour of 5 am.
But timing is everything, because that led me to take my morning piss on the first floor, where I spotted an inverted moth struggling to stay afloat on the toilet water. So, of course I scooped him up and took him outside where his wings could dry in the morning sun.

He was very appreciative to be given a little more life to enjoy.
It’s those little things that count most of all.
Yesterday was a perfect day.
Anyway, I’ve got some mule muffins to shovel and wheelbarrow out back, and then I’ll probably clean the front trough under the Old Man. The clouds have returned to NoCo so I’ll probably do a little food shopping and then retreat to my recliner.
You fine five readers take a breather and enjoy The Lord’s Day of rest. You’ve earned it.
And no matter what else we each get up to, let’s make today a great one.
