Muggle Celts are some of the best. Take Alan Rickman for example, who was quoted as saying:
“I was talking to Sharleen Spiteri about being a Celt, how you smell each other out, because my mother’s family is Welsh.”
Turns out his paternal grandfather was Irish as well.
So, this Celt is claiming him for our tribe. No backs.
The younger film audience demographic knows Alan Rickman as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series.
He was absolutely brilliant in that role.
AR was an amazing actor. I have followed him since the last century as a great show stealing bad guy. For example: Elliott Marston – Quigley Down Under. Sheriff of Nottingham – Robin Hood.
But who can forget his Hans Gruber in Die Hard?! Stole that movie as well, as demonstrated by the poster above.
So now that we are full on into Christmas season, and oddly enough, Die Hard (and DH2) is/are one/two of the highest grossing Christmas Movies to date, I figured that, once my chores were done, I would get an Alan Rickman twofer and watch Die Hard and Love Actually (where he plays a redeemably shit husband), for my late afternoon movie pleasure. I was not disappointed.
Rickman was a tour de force. He can’t help himself. He’s a Celt.
Had he lived, I would have loved to see him play one of the roles in a film adaptation of The Claire Saga. Maybe his estate would be open to a CGI resurrection. Nothing is impossible with AI and the film technologies these days.
Watching Mufasa in his film trailer this weekend
convinced me that a CGI Claire will have no problem holding her own among the motley crew and all of the bad guys they encounter. She’s told me many times that she would love the chance to act opposite AR in the CGI universe. Don’t blame her one bit.
So, if you get a chance this Holiday season, burn through as many Alan Rickman films as you can find. He always provides a delightful entertainment experience.
Well, Monday is again upon us. Time to get a move on.
You fine, five readers pull your socks up, suck down that last caffeine jolt and head out to conquer your world.
Me, I have already fed Mittens, cuddled Smokey and made my rounds. Running out of order this morning as Lisa is picking up another per diem shift. But she’s left me a list and will be checking it twice when she gets home.
So, I’m off.
But remember, no matter what lies before us, let us all make today a great one.

Have you seen him in Truly Madly Deeply? Really good dark comedy.
Quigley is an all-time underrated film for me
Tom Selleck is just part of an awesome cast of weasels, weirdos, rogues and quietly compelling aborigines.
