Two Nocturnal Females

The Moon is considered a feminine symbol.

And Venus similarly shares that feminine energy.

So when they appear so closely in the night sky, a healthy male takes notice.

But here on terra firma two other nocturnal females seemed completely at home wandering Casa Claire under the light of these feminine celestial bodies.

Assuming that everything is as habitual as I am, I was surprised not to find Claire and Honey out in the back property, where they usually hang after sunset, waiting for their meal.

And then I remembered hearing the outdoor security camera chime, so I knew they had to have moved towards the high ground front property of Casa Claire, probably to get a better view of the waxing Moon and Venus on the western horizon.

Where I found them stargazing among the cottonwoods on the western side of the property, just above the Giant’s Causeway.

And these two ladies provided a very cool silhouette shot as they followed me down to the new barn when they passed through the side paddock on their way to their final meal of the night.

Where – standing in the doorway of their new barn – their view of the moon remained equally spectacular.

Now, I too enjoy my nocturnal ambles around the property.

(I look like one of the creatures caught on a trail cam)

I love my nights on Casa Claire not just for the magnificent astronomical canopy, and the non-human biologics that have been regularly traversing those overhead star maps.

But because the natural darkness provides a feeling that I am truly free of the daily grind of the modern world around me. None of life’s bullshit follows me into the darkness.

Just me, the mules and Mother Nature.

And I get to do my best grounding, which recharges my batteries.

Well, that darkness is beginning to dissipate in the approaching dawn, so I have to return to society and carry out my daily obligations.

I’ve already fed Mittens out by his heated bunker and cuddled Smokey for most of the time I was writing this.

So I just need to share one more Friday morning cuppa, with my fine, five readers, before I head out on my rounds.

You all make sure to find your respective escapes from life’s bullshit. Go find the magic that is all around you.

Maybe binge read a great book series, once you sneak out of the office for the beginning of your weekend. You can always squeeze in your weekend errands and that mandated football game between books.

And no matter what we get up to this wonderful Friday, let us make today a great one.

  1. I am usually up when you are and I am always outside watching the night sky. I have one-sided conversations with my dad or grandma. Very peaceful time of day, quiet and serene. Mr. Foxtrot likes to amble through my yard, which is fine with me. Beautiful red fox who likes to take a shortcut through my yard. He is very stealthy and quiet, Never looks at me or stops. Sometimes he is so close I could touch him but I don’t. I’m not afraid of him and he isn’t afraid of me. Mutual respect. The quietness makes me feel peaceful. For a while all is right with the world.

  2. I enjoyed your ruminations of the glorious night sky and your mule feeding activity. And, the thoughts from a reader, Adrienne, and her peaceful time of the night and the nonchalant fox trotting through her yard. Very nice.
A few days ago, my walk to my 100-yard distant office building in the evening was interrupted by a nearby skunk foraging amongst the prairie grasses. I am thankful for my flashlight to keep me from our crossing paths. While I do enjoy taking in the night sky, one cannot concentrate totally on the heavens for fear of raising a big stink.

  3. love the quiteness of the evening or ealry morning. love the way the fox doesn;t bother you or him you… nature is beautiful.
