Yesterday, a few fathers got together at Casa Claire to obtain more autographs from the magical Claire the Mule.
Myself, Jason Bastemeyer and Clarence “Doc” Sitzman (r to l)
gathered to obtain clear hoof prints off of Claire under the best conditions after a mani-pedi.
I left the planning to the more experienced team.
And then explained it to Claire.
And then Jason and Doc executed it perfectly with Jason holding the now pristine hoof and Doc painting it blue.
Jason then hand pressed while Doc repainted and we managed to obtain a series.
Which I then authenticated and distributed among the men. I gave the one with the colored border to the grans. It’s probably already up on Ebay.
I’ll keep one to gift at some point in the future.
Claire’s patience was rewarded with a couple of kisses.
Plus Claire and Honey got a great brushing and a wonderful mani-pedi before being cut loose to spend the day demanding tithes and lollygagging around.
Now Jason had 11 more horses to see along a route that stretched as far away as Wyoming (I had to take Aleve after just watching Jason work), so, he took his hoof print and headed off while Doc and I were left to ourselves to take The CLaire Saga driving tour to around the estate, the town of Berthoud and off to Hygiene where we stopped for Chai (Doc) and Latte (me). We did pass through an interdimensional portal, to see some of the other locations but Doc is sworn to secrecy. During that time we had wonderful conversations just about every topic you can imagine and through our age induced, aggregate wisdom, sorted out most of the problems affecting society today. But who is going to listen?
Well today is Father’s Day. Probably the second toughest job after being a mother. I’m blessed to have some of the proof of my bloodline here at Casa Claire,
And the other two have already texted me from Atlanta (Jackie) and New York (Mark) so acknowledgments have been made. I’m thrilled that they are all happy and healthy.
I’ll try and take it easy today, but I still have chores to do, after blowing off yesterday morning on The Claire Saga tour, but it was time well spent, and Clarence is an interesting guy.
I hope you Fathers among the fine, five readers get the proper acknowledgement for your life of service as well. You see, you remain a father until your very last breath, and then beyond.
I have my own father (and grandfathers), FIL and many surrogates that have crossed the veil who all contributed to making me grow up into a half-decent man, and I will be remembering them all today. You see, fatherhood is not just defined by bloodline, but by love (sometimes tough-love) bestowed at various points in your life when you need it most.
Well, I better be skedaddling, I have kitties to cuddle and rounds to make.
So Happy Father’s Day one and all.
And no matter what else we get up to, let’s make today a great one.

Thanks Eileen and Pete.
HFD, Tom. And next time Jason and Clarence are out there together, I and the other OFC members and probably all your grandkids and Pete would treasure a colorful hoof print from your hobbit feet. Thanks in advance!
Will do.
