A Snowy Day

Yesterday was one of those inconvenient snow days. My internet was on the fritz in streaks – it can make you feel isolated – and I had a few power outages, which always makes you hold your breath for a bit hoping it is just for a few minutes when it’s cold outside. Always have to worry about pipes bursting if the heat stays off too long.

So Lisa got a fire started in The Grand Kahuna – first in two years

Over the course of the night, from the back deck the snow went from

to

Claire and Honey took it all in stride. They hung out in the barn until the heavier snow let up and then they moved around the property – including coming up to the back door a few times for their veggie/fruit tithe.

They also spent some time meditating on the west side of the property behind a copse of trees that blocked most of the snow passing horizontally through Casa Claire.

And by morning they took their meals inside the barn.

The temperature stayed around freezing, which is relatively moderate comparatively speaking, although I was talking to Colin Broderick yesterday, who was driving in his car in NJ with the windows down and the temperature in the low 70s. So, no, it was not like that. One more reason I’m jealous of CB.

So, I did go out a couple of times for short bursts in my bare feet.

Actually does feel invigorating, and I got my dose of cold grounding in. So I’m all charged up.

Speaking of charged up, I don’t know who needs to hear this but I’m so over seeing those social media ads promising government programs that will install the latest kinds of small, interlocking solar panels on your house – COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE – if you just click on the button and answer a couple of questions. I always forget the con and soon I’m fielding phone calls from local solar panel salesmen who quickly and candidly admit when cross-examined that yeah, that “free” pitch is complete bullshit. So much for hopping on the green train.

I tried to find out from my Waste Company if they would be doing their regular recycling pick up – often times they don’t when there is inclement weather – but couldn’t get a live person and no call call backs. Since I have plenty of space to store it, I can miss a pickup if necessary. It’s not easy being green.

But the constant snowfall had me humming Lara’s Theme every time I glanced out the window.

Spring is next week – Spring Equinox is Tuesday, March 19th – so, I supposed someone should let Mother Nature in on the secret, especially since opening day of the Major League Baseball season is the very next day.

Well, enough grumbling. It’s Friday and that means all is right with the world.

Unless, of course your name is Julius Caesar. That “Ides . . .” thingy. Et tu?

You fine, five readers go into work and skive like it’s your job.

Make those weekend plans.

But watch out for your friends.

I’m going to go cuddle some kitties and make my rounds.

Then see what the universe provides me.

But most of all, I, like you fine, five readers, am going to make sure today is a great one.
