Happy New Year – Welcome 2024

The great thing about New Year’s Day is that it always brings with it so much promise. Hope.

For us men, it’s the Father Time handoff to the New Year’s Baby, who then ages very quickly back into the hoary old Father Time just in time for the next handoff on the following December 31st.

Mother Nature has it made. Always a vibrant female throughout the four seasons.

But it’s all cyclical, in both years and seasons. For both genders, we keep getting a shot at a mulligan. A do over. A chance to get it right.

Another opportunity to try our hand.

And we really can’t ask for more than that.

For me, 2023 was a year of completing things. I wrapped the fifth and final(?) book of The Claire Saga.

The actual publication birth day of Where The Ley Lines Meet comes on April 16, 2024. The day after Tax Day, when everyone of working age in the US is desperately looking for something for their stressed minds and imaginations to escape too. WTLLM provides just the distraction you need.

And now on to new things. My intentions, during these next twelve months, is to attract the interest of a film production company in The Claire Saga. This epic story, and the wonderful Claire it is built around, deserves an alternate medium to extend it to the masses. Candles lit. Fingers crossed.

Beyond that, with the right inspiration, and some time, I’ll write something new this summer.

Spoiler alert, I’ve teed up the next series at the end of WTLLM. But maybe I’ll write something different, maybe a one off, just to cleanse the creative palate. We’ll see where the Muse leads me.

What matters is that 2024 offers me another opportunity to create. Another blank canvas to fill. Another reason to hope.

And that same promise applies to everyone, no matter what your profession, or your age, or the status of your life. Starting on January 1st, every new day this year of 2024 gives you an opportunity to take that chance, chase that dream, and, if you’ve already captured that dream, to sit back and enjoy it.

To those who have ended the year with a set-back, physical, emotional, mental or material, don’t give up. Lick those wounds, rebuild your strength, focus on recovering, repair old relationships if they are worth saving and and open yourself to new relationships if they are not. Dum spiro spero – “While I breathe, I hope.”

So, you fine, five readers use today, this first day of the New Year, to rest, reassess, redirect, and then move forward in the direction of something new and promising. Never give up.

While I figure out my own direction, I’ll stop and cuddle some kitties and do my rounds.

Then I’ll go out and give Claire a really good brushing – if I can catch Honey, she’ll get one too.

Set the standards for the new year.

But whatever we do during this opening portal to a glorious New Year, let us all make today a great one.
