Going in reverse chronological order, the above photo is of my brother-in-law, Terry Sacca, his son, my nephew, Tyler Sacca, and his grandson, my great nephew, Grayson Tatum Sacca.
Terry’s wife, my wife Lisa’s sister, Michele Wallen Sacca, passed not too long ago after a lifetime of battling the confounding diabetes she had since childhood. Michele was a sweetheart. Never grumbled. Ever.
Her caring disposition led her to her profession as a nurse. Having suffered so much for so long, Michele could not help but care for the suffering of others.
And as sweet as she was, she was tough as hell. Tyler was a miracle baby that Michele’ wasn’t supposed to have. Michele battled chronic kidney disease and spent a lot of time her past few years on dialysis. Again, she never grumbled.
Michele was a warrior.
You can see Michele in Tyler’s face.
Well, young Grayson came into the world just a few weeks ago a little ahead of schedule with a roar that would have made his great grandfather, Jimmy Sacca, lead singer of the Hilltoppers, very proud.
He also came into it with a physical defect to his heart.
Thank God, we live in a time where science and medicine are advanced to the point where such physical defects can be corrected. Thank God Terry, Tyler (his spouse, Elizabeth) and Grayson, live in a country and state where these advancements are available to the wee man. God bless America.
So, this morning, Grayson will have his tiny but extremely powerful heart surgically tweaked by one of the top surgeons in the country.
And while Tyler, Elizabeth and Terry wait anxiously in the waiting room, Michele will be standing inside the surgical theater next to the operating table holding the wee man’s hand and guiding the surgeon’s while he corrects whatever needs to be corrected. And if the going gets rough Michele will be there to add her healing energy into Grayson’s mix. She will not let this baby down.
And the rest of Grayson’s extended family will be directing their intentions, energies and prayers from afar in whatever belief system works best for them, all asking the all loving creator to do the right thing. Protect and heal Grayson’s mighty heart.
My candle is lit. My intentions are focused.
Michele, do your thing.
Grayson’s great uncle Mark and great aunt Leslie Wallen, who have also passed, will also be weighing in I’m sure.
Grayson, we’ll catch you on the flip side. Looking forward to hearing you sing some of your great grandfather’s songs, in baby.
So now I need to distract myself for a little while while Lisa, and all of her siblings, wait anxiously by the phone.
I have some kitties to cuddle, and rounds to make.
Then my work day.
You fine, five readers take a moment to thank your creator for all the gifts life has bestowed on you, including your family. I pray they are all healthy.
And if you have the thought, maybe throw in an extra prayer for Grayson.
Much appreciated.
And whatever else we do today, let us make today a great one.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone today. May God work through the surgeon’s hands with Michelle holding Grayson’s hand tight. 🙏🙏❤️
Bless him, sending prayers
Prayers for all Saccas – great and small….
Everyone involved in something like this needs prayers- including friends and other relatives.
Praying for that precious baby and for the surgeons repairing his heart
Hoping you all receive good news soon! God bless you all.🙂🙏🩷
Thank you all for your prayers. It was a long day but Terry reported that Grayson came through this first procedure with flying colors. He will need a Glenn procedure in about 6 months time and then another final operation when he’s about 5 years old. So far, so good.
