I love my iPhone camera.
I don’t know how many times in my pre-iPhone world where I saw something that made me just think “wow, what a cool shot.” But because I couldn’t capture it for the world to see, I just had to store it away in my head. I stored a bunch of cool moments in my head while I was growing up. Most of them have shown up in my books.
Yesterday, I went out to check on the food dishes for the feral cat society and I glanced over at the Old Man and spotted Mittens sitting calmly beneath him, watching something my eyes could not see in the distance. I knew she had a full belly by the emptiness of her food bowl. Her calm demeanor under the tree reminded me of Buddha. We’re peeps.
That made me happy.
It doesn’t take much to please feral cats. Food, water and a dry/warm place to sleep.
That I can do.
I’m always telling people that there’s magic in this world if you know where to look.
Anytime you find a manifestation of happiness, that’s magic incarnate.
Seeing Mittens sitting there happy was a magical moment for me.
I’m glad I had my iPhone to capture it.
It goes to show you that it must not take much to please feral writers either. We are drawn to happiness like a moth to a flame. And that’s a good thing.
So, yesterday was the birthday of my dear friend, Eileen Cotto (né Collins). Me and EC’s family go way back, and her older brother and some of her other family members made it into The Claire Saga. A character bearing her name actually appears in KMAG and WTLLM. A different character based on EC also appears in the prequel, FJM. Anyone who knew EC back in the day, knows which character I’m talking about. Enough said.
Staying true to character, I understand EC and a couple of friends raised hell yesterday. Where we come from, that’s a good thing. I am waiting for photos. Mug shots will do.
Happy Birthday Eileen. You may be a year older in human form but you are now immortalized in The Claire Saga, with all of the crew that counts, forever.

So, now it is hump day. Next to Friday, Hump day is my favorite day of the work week. By Wednesday, I know how the week has shaped up and have forecasted how it should end. I can always spot Friday from the top of the hump.
Now last night was the first of the three day Blue Super Moon Cycle. Tonight is the Apex. One of the biggest and brightest moons of the year will rise at 7:10 p.m. EDT. It won’t hit it fullest point until 9:36 p.m. EDT (7:36 pm my time). Full moons are a great time to launch a completed project. I’ll be sending out WTLLM to BRW sometime today, to capitalize on the Blue Super Moon Mojo.
Wish Claire and her motley, mystical crew, lots of luck. This book completes the first story cycle.
The rest of my day awaits, so I must flee.
Let’s all get to it so we can all get our shit done and dusted and then stop and glance at Friday when we reach the peak of the hump.
But first, my kitty cuddle and my rounds.
You fine, five readers go out there and scale the hump.
But most of all, make today a great one.
