When I physically leave my Casa Claire property, mostly when I am alone, my imagination launches and I get to appreciate the magic in this world as I travel there and back again.
Back in 2017, travelling on my own was more challenging than one would think. I’ve explained many times how disoriented I was when my balloon first landed in NoCo. There is just no grid to follow like in NYC.
I’ve also explained how right from the shout the cluster of three mountains in NoCo – all over 14 thousand feet tall – became my homing beacon so that if all of my electronic devices suddenly gave out, I would still be able to find my way home to Casa Claire

Indeed, I have become so enamored with those three mountains, which I have dubbed The Three Witches, even appear as non-human characters/locations in The Claire Saga.
Chapter Forty-One of An Alien Appeal, titled “(Ain’t No Mountain High Enough),” is my most defined literary homage to those mountains. The highest peak of the three real formations, Mt. Elbert, is the setting where the extraterrestrial, Michelle, gives Jimmy Moran some tough love concerning his recent transformative alien hybridization. Metaphorically, that scene was a summoning to Olympus from a god to a demigod. It was a way to provide this physically evolving Jimmy with a new view of the world that the human Jimmy would never have ventured high enough to see. It changed his way of looking at things.
It’s really no surprise that I was triggered in this fashion, given my Celtic roots and eclectic spirituality.
As soon as I set eyes on the NoCo mountain triplets in 2017, they reminded me (left to right) of the three pagan goddesses – Maiden, Mother Crone – and their association with the heavens, earth and underworld.

What can I say, I love the female form.
On a literary level, my constant referral to the three mountains as The Three Witches in my books and my blogs is my homage to The Bard and his magical “Scottish Play.”

Anyway, the “Weird Sisters” in that play, introduce magic into Shakespeare’s storyline. They foretell the lead character’s fate.
I wanted the three mountains to provide the same service for The Claire Saga. Their appearance in The Wise Ass forecast the magic that occurs in the storyline, with Jimmy and Gina’s arrival in Northern Colorado.
So, each and every day, these mountains trigger my imagination just by their appearance in my line of sight.
Yesterday evening, right at dusk, when I was coming home from a little food shopping in my no-so-new hometown of Berthoud, I spotted The Three Witches cloaked in a fiery sky that would have looked right at home as Sauron’s Mordor in LOTR.

I had to pull over and snap that photo.
And that one moment made my day. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.
But now I have chores to think about.
Well, here we are at another Biblically ordained day of rest.
I hope my fine, five readers get to put your feet up and just enjoy the some “me time.”
If you find yourself at loose ends, pick up a book and escape into your imagination. It will refresh your mind and relax your soul.
And no matter what else we get up to, let us all make today a great one.
