Spark of Faith – Lucky Number 7

I began writing novel number seven on the Summer Solstice of this year, delivered my first draft to BRW at the end of August on the full moon, and this early morning delivered its final draft to my wonderfully patient literary shepherd, Mary Ellen Bramwell at BRW, on the apex of October’s Hunter’s Moon. Cosmically, all positive portents.

I’ve explained how, given my chronological age (despite my eternal emotional age of five), it is not unusual to treat major events as a “last” time you may do something.

Always Your Last, Until It’s Not – The Wise Novelist

This morning’s delivery was no different. My part in this particular literary dance is done. Deep breath.

For all intents and purposes, BRW has everything it needs to publish this novel on May 23, 2027, without any further creative intercession on my part.

The cover isn’t done, but I have unshakeable faith that David King at BRW will knock this cover out of the park. Mary Ellen has the minimum number of writers’ blurbs for both the front and back covers, and the others I’m still waiting on will make their way onto the remaining open cover space or into the section “What Others Are Saying” at the front of the novel. I’ve been blessed by some wonderful blurbs from wonderful writers. Thanks guys and gals.

Now it is my intention to begin a new work next spring, I’ve got a lot more stories in me, but should the Universe have other plans, and my seventh novel turns out to be my swan song, I’m cool with that.

You see, the number seven carries a lot of mystical weight.

Number 7 is perceived to be lucky because it appears repeatedly in nature, culture, religion, and mythology. There are seven days of the week, seven colors of the rainbow, seven notes of a musical scale, and Seven Wonders of the World. It has unique mathematical properties–the only number under 10 that is prime (1 is not prime, as it has only one positive divisor, while a prime number must have exactly two distinct positive divisors,1 and itself).

Seven is considered an Angel Number in numerology, which is particularly fitting given the subject matter of SOF.

7 Angel Number — What It Means When You Keep Seeing It

Spiritually, number 7 represents personal growth, higher consciousness, enlightenment, psychic abilities and a deepening connection to the divine.

Again, given SOF‘s subject matter, this is spot on.

Who knows? Maybe SOF will save this lapsed BIC turned happy heathen’s sorry ass – I have the religiously righteous Pete Sheridan on eternal retainer as my Daniel Webster – should I be cosmically – and comically – called to account.

Like the prior six novels, I never thought I had SOF in me. It’s a completely different storyline than what is found in The Claire Saga, and far less gritty than Free R.A.D.I.C.A.L., but like those novels, SOF delivers empathetic characters struggling with unexpected challenges that alter their perception of life in this world and what may lie beyond. What ties all my novels together is their underlying spirituality. No preaching. No one path. Just observations and opportunities woven with a little bit of Celtic black humor.

Luckily my black-out channeling and typing-elves method of automatic writing has delivered one more time.

So, as I gave SOF my final read though before sending it off to BRW this early morning, I was happy in realizing that I had left it all on the creative playing field and if this is the last work that a reader may assess and judge me as a writer, that I am okay with that.

Good luck number 7!

Now, for you fine, five readers who have happened upon this morning’s blog – there can only be five –

Claire’s Theorem – The Wise Novelist

do not dismay that we are again faced with another Monday, who I have learned is really a sweetie. You see, time is not only speeding up under Claire’s Theorem,

Claire’s Theorem of Relativity – The Wise Novelist

but it seems that the earth’s rotation is also speeding up, impacting time as we experience it.

So next weekend, and my wonderful Samhain will be here before you know it.

So, suck down that last cuppa and pull up your socks. Time to attack the work week with gusto. Make your mark as only you can and I’ll see you fine, five readers (or five different ones) back her tomorrow.

Until then, let us all make today a great one.

  1. 7 is also the most mentioned number in the Bible …even God rested on the 7th day 😉😁. And we are supposed to forgive not once, but 70×7 times (fitting for one part in this novel I think) and so many more. Funblog! Spark of Faith is going to be a hit!
