Lucky Number 7

Yesterday was Super Bowl 60. I remember Bart Star winning SB 1 for the Packers. If you like games decided by the defense, then yesterday was your day. Congrats Seahawks. Condolences NE.

More importantly, yesterday was my gran – Savanna’s 7th Birthday.

Savvy was hosting a Princess Party for her friends. Luckily, Lisa and I were able to drop off the gifts and retreat before any true madness occurred.

I did get to watch a rite of passage as the one-time runner up to Ms. Australia passed on her wealth of make-up knowledge to the next generation of beautiful McCaffrey women.

Savvy was intent on looking every bit a Princess. She has a young Princess Kate look going for her.

Pay attention Prince George – Savvy’s part Brit and we promise not to ever say anything bad about the royals if you marry her.

Plus, I say such wonderful things about the UK in The Claire Saga, in which Savvy and her sisters (and cousin, Lucian) are characters.

Although full disclosure – Savvy has an AIW Red Queen feel to her.

But trust me, the worst of the McCaffrey genes has been bred out of her.

But back at Casa Claire, I had troughs to clean and refill,

And the CC heating system’s air filters to replace.

Which I only remembered to do because the sentient machine reminded me with its sudden and cacophonous banging that sounded like the house was about to explode.

Then I finally found a place for the AIW White Rabbit table and book – in the room that Scarlett refuses to relinquish, as she lived in that room before her siblings were born. We keep it untouched even though she has moved out twice.

It is where the girly grans sleep whenever they have Nona One-On-Ones, Two-On-Ones or Three-On- Ones.

We are still awaiting Lisa’s AIW plaque. Wait, it arrived!

While I waited for the largest back trough to fill, lying blissfully on the hill leading down to the barns, watching a cloud formation that looked like a dragon, the Beagle Brothers saw that as an opportunity to enforce the “No Rest for the Wicked” rule.

Which is all right. I will never feel lonely at CC.

The mules stayed out on Hadrian’s Wall for most of the afternoon, absorbing that wonderful grounding.

And Claire had a deep siesta.

But it was that kind of lazy day. Just ask Smokey the feral cat.

I have to tell you, I’m selfishly enjoying the winterless NoCo winter.

Last but not least, I ordered two tickets for the Poe Speakeasy – which Lisa and I will attend on March 14th.

Big fan: Nevermore – The Wise Novelist

It’s in Boulder – where we always attend the Shakespeare Festival.

You get to watch the theatrical enactments of four of EOP’s Stories while sipping cocktails designed for each story – mine will have to be non-alcoholic.

TICKETS | Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy

That dose of culture should carry us through to the summer where we have booked two performances at this year’s Shakespeare Festival.

So, that’s as close to a Day of Rest as one can hope for here on Casa Claire.

Well, my fine, five(?) readers – I think that number has been drastically reduced – here we are at another Monday. The good news is that more and more people stay home with the flu after every Super Bowl, so why not take advantage – Why the Super Bowl is played on Sunday, not Saturday

So, take that hit of Cold & Flu medicine and get back into bed. Tuesday will be there before you know it.

Me, I’ve got rounds to make and shopping/chopping to do.

But no matter what else we get up to, let’s make today a great one.
